HI,
Navigation isn´t always easy. It would have been interesting to hear your opinion on the solution given below. When using drop-down menus there has been some confusion from my clients whether a visitor should click
on the main menu item first and then come back for clicking on another item at the drop-down level.
Or if it would be better to only have links on the drop-down part and leave the main menu element without a link.
There´s an obvious risk that visitors may miss or maybe skip the top-level pages with a standard drop-down menu
that we have in most Studiopress themes (I have not studied them all). The other day I saw a solution with drop-downs that I reacted on. To me, it feels just right. You will find it here:
(Please note that you may change to preferred language at the right side, just beside the login.)
http://www.apsis.com/This menu needs a click on the menu item before the drop-down part will show up. As a visitor, you will not miss
anything that might be of interest for you.I would very much appreciate if Studiopress could give an option in coming themes for more than on menu-solution.
A mobile and tablet-friendly mega-menu would have been great, and I think more user-friendly than today´s
drop-down menus with different levels down.Otherwise, some advice on altering menu-solution would have been of great help. For example advice on needed
CSS and maybe javascript to achieve these menus. My questions:
http://www.apsis.com/
1/ What do you think about the drop-down menu in the link? Does it need javascript or is it possible with just CSS?
2/ Do you know any tutorials or advice on such a menu that I linked to (in order to convert the menu in Enterprise Pro)?December 10, 2016 at 8:41 am #197393Victor FontModeratorI looked at the source code for your example site and they have completely rewritten the built-in WordPress menu structure, which Genesis advantages. Instead of menu links, they've changed the code to use buttons at the top level. You would have to create php to override WordPress, CSS to style the buttons, and jQuery to make it all work. It's quite possible that they're not even using the WordPress Menu builder in the admin area. Their menu appears to be completely custom.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?December 10, 2016 at 11:13 am #197402CharlieLParticipantThank you, Victor Font for your comment.
It doesn´t seem to be a good idea to override WordPress. I guess WP-updates then may be more cumbersome for clients. But I will look further into this task and check if it will be possible to come close to the menu of the example site, within
the limits that WP sets.Regards,
