I'm having some weird type in a blog post excerpt shown here - http://imgur.com/0KCrGuz under the 2 shares as "]

How can I get rid of these characters?

Off hand, it looks like the end of a broken shortcode. It's not possible to tell without looking at your source code.

These lines are causing the validator to stop:

I would put the css selectors into the style.css and delete this. (Probably in Genesis - Theme Settings - Header and Footer Scripts (but it could also be included through a plugin).

After that the validator will stop every time this construct is used:

If you want to have a line break before the click to continue you could add a <br/> before the tag:

Did you check in the post editor if you have a "] in the Scripts or Custom Fields section?

I dont see custom fields but scripts is clear.

To simplify this problem determination, please check the impact of plugins by disabling them one by one. I'd start with Easy Social Share, then Design Palette Pro.

all fixed, thanks for all the help! It was a plugin issue and the developer updated it.
