    Guys,

    Where is the php file that prints the template that's called "Default Template"?
    I've searched the entire site root with no joy. I must be missing something.

    So what I'm searching is "Template Name: Default Template"

    My objective is to get this php file in the child for editing purposes.

    Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas on this!

    Default templates are in the parent directory, not the child theme's. The default template for pages is page.php, for posts it is single.php. If you're going to customize them, copy them to your child theme directory.

    I think you'll be surprised at how little code they actually contain. They both simply call the genesis() function. That's where all the work takes place. What are you trying to customize? Those two files are rarely touched for customizations. Genesis customizations are generally handled through WordPress/Genesis hooks (actions and filters).

    You can create a file named page.php like this in your child themes root directory.

    <?php

    // Add Code Here

    genesis();

    Fellas,
    My goal is to create a custom template that will look like the Smart Passive Income theme.

    Currently Im using Divi in conjunction with Genesis to pull it off but the CSS is a nightmare. I also am not a fan of Divi.

    I just want to have the option of selecting a custom template that gives me the ability for full browser width colors for the front page only. It looks like custom widgets will be needed which is fine by me.

    I've considered full browser width child divs within main class="content" but it's overly complicated.

    Create a front-page.php file.

    This is how WordPress handles custom widgeted home pages.

    Brad,

    Yes sir, just the body copy area. Not the nav or the footer. Actually I'm looking for an easy solution to have full browser width background sections that will hold centered body copy. That's it.

    Thanks for that link Andrea.. That's a good chunk of data to chew on.

    I would look at how the front-page-2 widget is coded and use that as a guide to code sections with background images added via the customizer in a page template.

    If you only want full width sections without the background image, use the code from one of the other widgets as a guide for each section.
