    Hi all,

I have purchased the Studio Pro child theme for Genesis and have everything installed. The main reason for purchase was the way the portfolio grid is laid out. See here: https://my.studiopress.com/themes/studio/#demo-full

I like the grid layout with the rollovers etc.

I'm aiming to do two things. Firstly repurpose the portfolio custom post type to change its name and secondly to duplicate the portfolio custom post type a couple of times as I want this layout and functionality to be the same for other sections of my site. (short courses, qualifications and a couple of others).

I thought it would be easy enough to edit and duplicate but I can't seem to find in the child theme where it registers the custom post type for portfolio... Usually its in the functions.php file but it can be linked as an include, but I can't see where?

Can anyone help? I'm thinking Genesis must have a special way of dealing with custom post types that I'm not aware of? Any help or direction would be massively appreciated 🙂 Thanks!!

The theme uses a plugin to create the CPT which cannot be modified.

I suggest using code to create a CPT

Thanks Brad - Is there a way to see which plugin it uses? I use the Custom Post Type UI plugin myself, but I can't see the Portfolio post type in there?

I guess then the code for creating CPT is the same as any other WordPress site and is no different just because its Genesis?

    Thanks again 🙂

Studio Pro is a community marketplace theme. The recommended plugins are in your theme's setup instructions available on the developer's site: https://seothemes.com/documentation/studio-pro/

As an FYI, they have their SSL certificate installed incorrectly. Visiting the setup instructions will produce a warning in your browser.

Ah ok I see - It seems its the Genesis Portfolio Pro plugin that is taking care of that. I'll have to add the custom post types manually and then just copy the archive and single portfolio pages (and css) if I want them to display the same as Portfolio posts.

Thanks guys for the help 🙂

You could also use the Custom Post Type UI plugin
