    Please visit my site lohrbend.com and help! I had the search box entirely responsive and now when the site is anything smaller than a laptop, it fully expands the search box making it difficult to search. Any idea of what went wrong here?

    That widget points to a JavaScript file, which contains #IDX-quicksearch-34117 {width:960px;}.

    Add this to your css file:

    #IDX-quicksearch-34117 {
        width: 100% !important;
    }

    If you want to keep it 960px wide then also add max-width: 960px;
