Is it possible for us just to remove the search field within the header only using the remove function?

I've had a look at the code snippets section on the studio press site but that just shows how to amend it (http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/search-form/)

There's no code required. Your search form is in the header-right widget area. Navigate to the Appearance/Widgets page in the admin area and and delete the search widget from the header-right widget area.
