I have added additional sections on the home page (odd, even) - but would like some added functionality.

    1) I would like to have what are currently referred to as post to refer to a selected category.

    2) The ODD image posts (categories) - I hope to be able to have them delivered from an ad server and be clickable.

    3) On the even categories - I want the content / sidebar layout - with sidebar 2, 4, 6 etc.

Ok - that's a lot. If this is too much here let me know - And please advise me to a customizer. I only ask because Genesis can do anything.

    Thanks

    1. Use the Genesis Featured Post widget and select the category

    2. Use a text widget for your code.

    3. You can't use sidebars in a section of a page. You can however use two adjacent widget to simulate content/sidebar. You'll have to provide your own styling.
