    Hi,
    I am new to Multisite and am finding it responds differently to a standard WordPress site installation.
    On the standard (single site) installation I have pages that run my own php code, querying the database, allowing submission and editing of data etc. I use templates to achieve this and write my code in a php file that gets used on a WordPress Page via the Templates option.
    To enable me to run only the code in the template (without other page elements appearing) I have a format as follows that sees me remove an action and then add one back in:

    <?php
    /* Template Name: ms_test_template */

    remove_action('genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop');
    add_action('genesis_loop', 'include_ms_test_template');

    function include_ms_test_template() {

    echo"Test";

    }
    genesis();
    ?>

    This all works fine on the standard WordPress installation but doesn't seem to work on the Multisite installation. I see all the usual page elements appearing still (search box, blog links, logout links etc) and then in a simple example like this, the text 'Test' appears in what looks like the footer area.

    I have tried Googling for instructions on how to use templates in Multisite (& with Genesis) but have not been able to find anything.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks,

    Jeremy.

    I've been running multisite for years and use multisite in my development environment. Themes respond the same way regardless of the WordPress setup.

    Are you talking about the widgets in the sidebar? When you install a new theme on either multisite or standard, the standard widgets install automatically. You have to remove these from Appearance/widgets for each site.

    What you need to be careful about with Multisite is when you add custom functions or templates, they will apply to each site in a multisite environment that uses the same template. You get around this by making a copy of the template and renaming it if you want the sites to be different.

    Oh my word Victor, that was so simple, rather embarrassed now I see what I was missing! I have been down a few rabbit holes recently trying to understand Multisite ... there seems to be plenty of "how to activate it" guides but very few that speak of the use of it ... problem solved, you're a star, thanks!

    if anyone knows of some guides to using it that help you understand things I'd appreciate a link or two!

    Thanks,

    Jeremy.
