Modern Blogger Pro: how to change color/weight of bold text

Hello! I just changed my child theme to Modern Blogger Pro. Bold text on posts and pages shows up lighter and I'd like it to be darker and heavier. Can you direct me to the way to modify it? Thanks so much.

Add the following at the end of child theme's style.css:

strong {
    color: #000;
    font-size: 2rem;
}

Hi,
Interesting, I see that type of question now and then. Although bold (which generally translates to "strong" in WordPress, due to the TinyMCE editor) looks great on my browsers (FF and Chrome Win), I think some browsers need more "instruction" to deliver Google fonts in different weights. What browser are you using, and what operating system?

Here's the boilerplate Google Fonts code in the theme;

@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster+Two);

@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Montserrat);

@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato);

If you're in Google Fonts, and select any of those fonts AND choose 700 bold as well as regular 400 weight, you get this:

@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:400,700);

So you could try adding the last bit to each of the lines above (Appearance.... Edit), and your browser may behave a bit more boldly. 🙂 If that works, you could mention it to the 3rd party developer of this theme.

Thanks for your help--Dave's suggestion worked!!

I had discovered that the bold text showed up fine in Firefox and Safari on a Mac and Chrome on a PC. It wasn't showing up in Chrome on my Mac, but it looks fine after I added that bit. I will send the info along to the developer.

Coolness! Glad that helped. I like typography a lot, so I enjoy playing with this sort of thing. If someone were super-fonty, one could use all the sizes that a Google font might offer!

Colors will behave better, I'm sure, as long as it's done with good CSS. 🙂
