    The topic title sets out the problem I've been wrestling with.

    The following code used to work, but I think that was before WordPress 5 and Gutenberg.

    ul.imageright {
        margin-right: 700px !important;
    }

    I'd really appreciate some help here. Thanks in advance.

    In order to use a class of ul.imageright, you need to add the imageright class to the ul element. Your ul element has no class assigned to it.

    In Gutenberg, click in the list in the post editor and then use the advanced section of the block menu on the right. type imageright into the advanced field. This adds your class to the ul element.

    Victor, I'm in your debt. So easy when you know how. You knew, I didn't. I'd love to be able to reciprocate sometime. Thank you for your clear and helpful instructions.
