Do we need to input a license key to get updates for Genesis Blocks and Genesis Custom Blocks plugins please?
If so, where do we find the keys?
Thanks
Philip.June 9, 2021 at 5:48 am #504230Victor FontModeratorThere is thread about this in the Genesis WordPress Facebook group. This is what David Vogelpohl (WPEngine) says about the key:
...the key is not necessary to run the plugins. That key enables auto updates. Pro Plus customers will have unlimited access to updates for Genesis Blocks / Custom Blocks Pro in the StudioPress portal just like you do premium themes.
Further in the thread, someone asked about updating many sites manually. That's the way it will be for the time being until WPEngine can provide a way to auto update the plugins for ProPlus users.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?June 9, 2021 at 8:09 am #504231Philip GledhillParticipantThanks Victor
I don't do social media, but I've just applied to join the Genesis WP group, so I 'll be able to see the whole post soon. I hope.In the meantime I'll update manually if necessary.
PS. Thanks for the quick reply 🙂
June 14, 2021 at 11:08 am #504253AnitaCKeymaster@philip-gledhill until they get the activation key resolved, you would need to manually download and update any site you've placed the Pro plugin on. They are working on a resolution to this right now, but wanted to make sure people had copies of the plugins.

June 18, 2021 at 8:27 am #504267sandersonParticipantHi,
I am not able to fully use the Custom Pro Blocks, even though the two plugins are available for me to download in my StudioPress account section. I can even view and use other theme-specific Genesis blocks but I can't do any customization. I thought that this might be due to not having a license (I don't see any licensing info at all). Can you please advise?
Thanks,
SheilaJune 21, 2021 at 9:06 am #504273AnitaCKeymaster@sanderson the plugin will work without the license key. The key is only to receive updates. Both plugins should work right after they have been installed and activated. However you should be using Genesis Blocks Pro and Genesis Custom Blocks Pro, not the free versions.

August 5, 2021 at 12:32 pm #504378AnitaCKeymasterFYI If you would like a way to remove the license notification on client sites for Genesis Blocks Pro until the license issue is resolved, I asked Phil Johnston of WPE if there was a code snippet we may be able to use to hide the License Notification for Genesis Blocks Pro in the dashboard. Phil created this code snippet and I've tried it and it works. Maybe users can just drop that in the functions.php file or in a core functionality plugin until SP/WPE finds a solution to the license key.

August 6, 2021 at 8:27 am #504384AnitaCKeymasterIf you grabbed the snippet yesterday, please grab a fresh copy. The previous version caused an issue with the Media Library and it's fixed now. So grab a fresh code snippet.

November 11, 2021 at 1:17 pm #504580massiveantParticipantThank you for the snippit for hiding the license notification on the plugin page, but it does nothing for the one that is on the dashboard the one that will be seen even more than the one on the plugin page - that one does not have a class or id for css to target without potentially targeting any WP error - any clues to what can be done about this til they figure out what to do about the license notification?
<div class="error"><p>There is no Genesis Pro subscription key entered. To get updates and the latest features, please enter your subscription key in the <a href="https://XXXXXXXXXXXXX/wp-admin/admin.php?page=genesis-blocks-settings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Genesis Blocks settings</a>.</p></div>
December 30, 2021 at 3:53 pm #504643Jeremy HoldenParticipantI updated the snippet with jquery to add the id attribute on for the error on the WordPress updates page.
One thing to be aware of is that the Genesis Blocks key is the only error showing in the code so if other errors are ever displayed inside the same <div> then they will also be hidden. That being said, any other errors generated should be inside their own <div> and wouldn't be affected.

Studiopress accounts can then switch to WP Engine with a discount for the first year. Is this a rumor or does anyone know anything more? It could be the reason that they don't do anything about the license key issue. That problem takes a long time for such a reputable company.

March 18, 2022 at 8:10 am #504857Andres FloydParticipantPlease re-download the sample if you haven't already done so. There was a problem with the Media Library in the previous version, but that problem has been resolved. Grab a new piece of code.
March 20, 2022 at 11:52 pm #504864AlvinmarkParticipant@sanderson The plugin will operate even if you don't have a licence key. The only requirement is that you get updates. Both plugins should operate immediately after installation and activation. Genesis Blocks Pro and Genesis Custom Blocks Pro, not the free versions, should be used.
August 15, 2022 at 9:10 pm #505682anlytxParticipantWhen I activate the Genesis Blocks Pro, it is giving me an error insisting I enter a License code. Please advise.
