The last wordpress theme i was using was a photo gallery type theme.

It had a "Project" section that is basically the same as "Posts" section. However they would show an image gallery of set featured image on the main page. Was using the image gallery as a way to show each individual image as a link to a blog article post.

Is there a way to transfer all of the "Project" Posts easily onto the pages setting? That way when I activate the genesis theme it will have all the posts on there? Can you add a gallary "Project" section onto this genesis (Altitude) child theme?

Or do I need to manually copy and past each Project onto the pages?

Those Project posts are custom post types. You can't import posts and have them show up under pages. WordPress keeps track of posts by their post type. A page has a post type of page. Normal posts have a post type of post. Custom post types have their own user defined post type. You can copy custom post types from one system to another but you'll never see them unless you include the code that creates them and installs them on the menu.
