    Hi all,
Hope I'm posting in the right place. I'm needing to transfer my site, currently running Thesis 1.8 (yes I know - I haven't updated yet) over to Genesis.
    SO
    1) What are the steps that I should NOT forget to take prior to switching? I know I need to do a Complete Backup... even though Backup Buddy is not working (something to do with php speed / GoDaddy, but thats a separate issue). At one point, years ago, I had added custom CSS to my current site, but I do not remember what the hell it was for. Do I need to copy that first and then upload it to Genesis?
    2) Most important to me is to keep ALL of my SEO intact. My site is extremely outdated (not even mobile friendly), but my search rankings and SEO are excellent, and the most important factor for me to transfer over seamlessly. How would I accomplish this?
    3) Anything else I should know? Am I overthinking this?! Lol

I wouldn't make this type of switch on a production site. I would clone the site to a development instance and make the change there. Then, when I was happy with everything, copy things back.

You need a child theme with Genesis. Never make changes to the Genesis Framework. You could use the Genesis Sample theme that you can download for free with your purchase of the framework.

The custom CSS you created for the thesis theme will probably not transfer over to the Genesis child theme. CSS is very theme/HTML element specific. The Genesis Framework and child theme will be very different from what you are used to with Thesis. Consider this project as starting over.
