I recently moved my site from /dev to the root folder but the header banner still comes from /dev.
    When I rename /dev to/dev_old it disappears.

How do I get the header to come from the root folder instead of /dev?

    Thank you

You can't just copy a WordPress site from one directory to another. When you build a site in a dev environment, there are a multitude of links that are embedded in WordPress content and config files. Every single one of those links has to be updated to the new site's url when it is moved if you want it to work properly. I use a plugin called Updraft Plus to facilitate moves, but there are many other ways to do it as well and quite a few plugins that will allow you to replace links once a site is moved. This link is from the WordPress codex and explains how to move a site from one directory to another: https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
