    Hi - I am wanting to get a bit less space above my header - I also think it is black behind my header (or nav menu) because when I open the site I see black there - I want it all white behind my header and navigation menus.

    Thanks!

    Use Firebug to inspect the area and modify the values for the margin and padding which applies to the site-container before changing your CSS

    To get rid of the extra space above the header you can add this to the bottom of your stylesheet

    .site-container {
        margin: 0 auto;
    }

    i think that looks fine, but if you wanted any more removed you will need to add this...

    .site-container {
             padding-top: 0;
    }

    and change the padding value accordingly. 0 means right at the top.

    For the the black background you can change by adding..

    .site-header {
        background-color: #fff;
    }

    I love helping creative entrepreneurs build epic things with WP & Genesis.
