I am having trouble customizing the product archive page. As far as I can ses/read, the archive-product.php page is the page used to display products in a specific product category. When copying this file inside my woocommerce folder in my child theme (agentpress-pro) and modify it nothing happens.
I have tried disabling the genesis connect plugin and afterwards editing the archive-product.php file and when doing so, the changes are made, so maybe the taxonomy is different in Genesis and I need to customize a different file?
I hope somebody can help me out.
Best regards,
Jens

Genesis connect provides its own archive-product.php file that overrides the WooCommerce template. However, templates in the theme's WooCommerce folder override both WooCommerce and Genesis Connect. If you want to modify archive-product.php, you should copy the template from Genesis Connect into the theme's WooCommerce folder and change that one. There are significant differences in the WooCommerce and Genesis Connect templates. For example, the WooCommerce template contains the product loop. The Genesis Connect template calls the product loop in a function. You can easily create a new function to change the way the template functions.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?August 28, 2016 at 8:14 am #192165mazeymazeMemberThanks for the quick reply, Victor.
I have tried to copy both the archive-product from the Woocommerce folder and the one from the Genesis-Connect, but neither one of them reacts to my editing. I have just tried basic editing in the file, uncommenting functions and filters, but nothing happens.
Basically what I am trying to accomplish is to add a wrapper around the content and having that wrapper containing a class so I can control padding etc. If this can be accomplished in another way than locating the "correct" archive-product, I am open for ideas.
Thanks a lot.
August 28, 2016 at 8:50 am #192166Victor FontModeratorYou wouldn't put the wrapper in the archive-product template. Customizing the output means modifying the content-product.php template. Take a look at this site: http://dev1.houseplanworks.com. It's still under construction, but if you click on the Buy Plans menu, you can see the kind of customization that can be done with content-product. There is also a start loop and end loop template in the WooCommerce template loop folder. If your wrapper is for the entire catalog, you can use these templates for it.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?August 28, 2016 at 8:59 am #192167mazeymazeMemberIf you take a look here (everything here is also under construction) https://www.kuhlmann-heating.com/product-category/drum-heaters/
As you can see I have two products (more coming) and also a site header + description. I need to style everything and not the products itself. The header, the description and the products all have no padding to the page, which I would like to add, so either I believe I have to add a wrapper with a class so I can style it, or add a class to the main div on this particular page.
I am quite new to WordPress, so still learning 🙂
Thanks a lot.

I still haven't been able to style my archive product page, so I really hope that someone can help me out in solving this 🙂 No matter what I do I can not seem to edit anything on the archive-product.php. I have tried to copy both the Woocommerce file and the Genesis Connect file, but no difference.
I have WordPress installed together with Woocommerce, Genesis, Genesis Connect and the Agentpress Pro child theme.
Crossing my fingers here.
Thanks
August 31, 2016 at 11:41 am #192427mazeymazeMemberJust as an extra I have now tried to rename both the archive-produkt.php file in genesis-connect and in the woocommerce folder and the page still displays, so it must use some other template?
