    Hi,
I'm really new with WordPress and am trying to create a blue box under the welcome text in the main page. I tried using the text widget but the box and the text were too small. Is there a way to make the blue box as wide as the front picture? Can I make the Welcome text almost as big?
Here is the link to the page but it's still a work in progress.

    Thank you!

You should use a text widget. That's as far as using WordPress goes. The rest is just HTML and CSS. Add a div, assign a class to it, write the CSS for the class to adjust the width, height, and colors of the div. Create borders for it if you want. Add your text inside the div.
