Change colour of content box?

Hi,
I have been able to change the background colour of my site but seem to be struggling to change the area where the content goes.
For example, on the page I would like the area where all my writing goes to be a light grey rather than white. Can anyone point me in the right direction to change this please?

You will need to modify this code which controls the entire .site inner on all pages and posts.

}
