Carrie Dils snippet for Enable Shortcodes in Widgets no longer working –

Hey guys and girls. I've always used Carrie Dils snippet in my function.php files for most sites.

//* Enable shortcodes in widgets - Genesis
add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode’);

I'm building a new website using Education Pro but when I paste that snippet in the function.php file it throws and error. Anyone know best way to get shortcode to resolve in the Education Pro ? Plugin? Different Snippet?

That's the correct snippet. Make sure you are using straight quotes and your editor hasn't converted them to curly quotes. The last quote looks like a curly quote to me.

Hey Victor, thank you very much for the reply. Do you mean these? 'widget_text', 'do_shortcode’ I just keep the snippet in Notes on my iMac. I'll see if I can find Carrie Dils web page and copy from there. Will keep you posted.

Is there any other way that people add this command to enable shortcode in widgets? I'd like to know as a backup. Dills snippet always works, and all I've used for eons.

That's the only command the WordPress provides to add shortcodes to wodgets.

No, I did not. Shortcode just shows up in the widget. Here's an example, used in the 'After Entry' widget.
