Captions not showing in image Posts

Hi,
I'm trying to get an image caption to show when I insert the image into a post. It's fine in pages, but when I insert the same image (that has a caption) into a post (into the body of a post, not the featured image), it doesn't show the caption.

When I look at the outputted html it shows:
<p>post text</p>

<p>post text</p>

and no sign of any wp-caption text.

Do I need to add anything to the functions.php to get this to show? I'm using Genesis-Sample child theme.

The caption works fine with posts in the Genesis Sample theme. How are you trying to insert a caption?

Hi Victor. thanks for the reply. I've added the caption in the media library for that image. Then in Posts, I go to the main text editor, write some text, then on a new line add media and insert the image from the library.

then I save the post and preview it and the caption doesn't show.

If I do exactly the same thing with a page, the caption does show.

If you look at the post content in the text editor after you insert the image with caption, do you see the caption shortcode?

If so, then you may not have the CSS to display the caption correctly. If you do not see the caption shortcode, the problem lies within WordPress, not the Genesis Framework. The code for inserting images from the media library is generated by WordPress.

Post a link to a page with a post that's not showing the caption.
