I'm trying to create a page with posts from a specified category, using the exact instructions given at "Create a Category Blog Page" and it just doesn't work. I've checked and rechecked. Instead of the specified category, it shows all posts.

The category page is made by specifying tags in a custom field. New field is "query_args" and the value is "Category=281" (without the quotes).

The only reason I can think of are two other custom fields created by a plugin, "mashsb_timestamp" and "mashsb_twitter_handle".

The argument isn't "Category=281". The argument should be cat=281. Don't use quotes either.

    Morning,

If you're adding the category page to one of your navs, there's a cool way to create the category archive via the Menu.

Navigate to Appearance => Menus in the WP Admin. Along the left side select Categories. Here you can select a category and then "Add to Menu." After selecting "Save Menu", view your site and test that your category archive is as desired.

    Regards,
    Terry

    Hi Victor,

Thanks for your reply, and I apologize: "Category = 281" was an error only in the way I entered it in the question. The value that actually appears is correct, "cat=281".

    Hi Terry,

Very good! Thanks for that suggestion.

Now, if there were some way to combine that with a tag. X category AND Z tag. But just the category is great.

    Thanks,
    Ted
