    Wordpress V4.8.1
    Altitude Pro V1.1.2
    WP-engine hosting w/LargeFS configured with AWS S3 Bucket
    Cloudflare DNS management

    I'm not sure when this happened, but I noticed all the thumbnails are not longer displayed in the widget areas or Galleries on pages.

    I can't figured this out.

    If you look at the source code generated for the gallery page, the image name is missing. All you are getting is the link to the directory.

    Hmmm, that's interesting. However, the thumbnails do appear in the dashboard/page/gallery.
    If/when you edit the gallery, select an image, the URL for it that displays fine. http://316design.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/316-Design-WEBSITES-ALMR.jpg

    This requires a deeper level of troubleshooting that can be provided from looking at the front end. I'd look for plugin conflicts, turn on WordPress debug, etc.
