Seems to now be working without any additional changes. Might have required clearing the cache.
wtechrbrMemberThanks a bunch - your solution worked! We also found some success with putting the footer in a fixed position at the bottom of the page. Will now need to look at the responsive behavior for both to see what consistently is best. Thanks as always Victor.
wtechrbrMemberThank you for your suggestion, but the content is good in the footer. I've updated the functions.php file to include what we need. I am trying to change the overall placement of the footer. Would like it overlap the .site-inner by about 50px rather than have it follow it.

February 1, 2018 at 2:50 pm in reply to: Move Secondary Nav from Footer Back to After Header in Infinity Pro #216018wtechrbrMemberI did find it. It's in the exact same position as the primary nav, and it's hidden from view. I have tried adjusting the margins but am finding that even though I'm identifying the secondary nav specifically the margins are affecting the primary nav too, so it continues to be buried. Tricky.
February 1, 2018 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Move Secondary Nav from Footer Back to After Header in Infinity Pro #216015wtechrbrMemberThanks Victor for jumping in. I tried that, but the end result was the secondary nav disappeared. I inspected the page to see if it was buried underneath something else, and it might be. Looks like it is executing after the header, but it's nowhere that I can see.
I will try messing with the css to see if I can force it to become in view.
wtechrbrMemberBetsy, checked on the things you mentioned, but don't see the secondary nav buried in there. I know you're not a moderator so I extremely appreciate the thoughts and suggestions you've graciously shared with me. Will open a new topic since what I'm trying to achieve you solved before this one was opened. Cheers!
wtechrbrMemberSuccess has not yet been achieved...
I commented out the line that renamed both and added in the line that only renamed the primary, and commented out the repositioning of the secondary nav. The result was the secondary nav just disappeared. I know there are CSS changes still required, but I would think I'd see the secondary nav (although likely with issues) somewhere near the top.
Betsy I know you likely don't have time to problem solve this with me, but I appreciate your insight and will keep making further attempts. Victor, maybe the error is obvious, and I'm just overlooking something else that's needed. Below is the new functions.php code I tried.
----------------------------------------------------------
// Rename primary and secondary navigation menus. COMMENTED OUT THE LINE BELOW AND ADDED THE NEXT
// add_theme_support( 'genesis-menus', array( 'primary' => __( 'Header Menu', 'infinity-pro' ), 'secondary' => __( 'Footer Menu', 'infinity-pro' ) ) );add_theme_support( 'genesis-menus', array( 'primary' => __( 'Header Menu', 'infinity-pro' ) ) );
// Reposition primary navigation menu. LEFT THIS IN PLACE
remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
add_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_do_nav', 12 );// Reposition the secondary navigation menu. COMMENTED OUT THE SUBSEQUENT LINES
// remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_subnav' );
// add_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_subnav', 5 );wtechrbrMemberThanks Betsie - appreciate the tips and will hopefully meet the same success you did.
wtechrbrMemberHey Betsie (and Victor),
I am interested in doing the same, but my attempts to move the secondary nav back up to the top have failed. There's quite a bit of add_action, remove_action, renaming in the functions.php file that I haven't come up yet with the right change. Do you recall specifically what changes you made to achieve that?
Thanks!
wtechrbrMemberWorked beautifully. Really appreciate the help - thank you!
wtechrbrMemberDid you find a solution to this as I am seeing the same thing. I might end up using the CTA widget as footer instead. Interested in knowing how you solved. Thanks.
wtechrbrMemberMoved the invocation of the home-top widget from the functions.php file to the home.php file right after the 2 newly defined widget areas.
wtechrbrMemberI will try that - thanks for the suggestion.
I've noticed the home-top is invoked from the functions.php file rather than the home.php file. I think that might be the root of my problem. The functions.php has the following:
/** Add home top section to homepage */
add_action( 'genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap', 'backcountry_home_top' );
function backcountry_home_top() {if ( is_front_page() && is_active_sidebar( 'home-top' ) ) {
echo '<div id="home-top">';
dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top' );
echo '</div><!-- end #home-top -->';
}}
I've been invoking my new widget areas from home.php, but maybe I should be putting them in functions.php to correctly invoke them in the order I want and in relation to home-top. Just not sure...
wtechrbrMemberHey - sorry for the lag in response.....
I'm able to get what you have in the screenshot above too. What I am trying to do is get the pre-defined "home-top" to render below my new "above-home-top-left" and "above-home-top-right" widget areas. Such that
Above-Home-Top-Left Above-Home-Top-Right
Home-Top
Home-Left Home-RightCurrently, I can only get it too render as this:
Home-Top
Above-Home-Top-Left Above-Home-Top-Right
Home-Left Home-RightThanks again for your help!
wtechrbrMemberHey - just got a chance to try, and it behaved the same.
home-top executed before newly defined widget areas.
It looks like it needs to be executed just after the subnav. I didn't see a specific hook for that, but maybe its possible.
Thanks again for helping so much.
wtechrbrMemberSent too fast....
I tried swapping in a variety of hook placements like genesis_after_header and genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap but none yielded the desired result. I also tried defining a new widget area similar to home-top to be executed right after my new pair of widgets, but for some reason I had an error in my logic and couldn't get it to work. Thought maybe you would have a suggestion for the appropriate hook reference to use such that the new pair would show up prior to the already defined home-top widget area.
Much thanks for the help you've already extended to me. I very much appreciate it.
wtechrbrMemberSuper helpful - thanks. Was hoping to still use the home-top widget area and was hoping the 2 new widgets would present above home-top, such that I'd have a pair of widgets (left and right), the full-width home-top, then content-sidebar.
wtechrbrMemberSure - here you go - just getting started on it.
