Trying to get the footer in Infinity Pro to purposely overlay the page content. Have tried several manipulations of the css, but don't quite yet have it. Any suggestions?

If all you are trying to do is change the footer information, I used a Genesis plugin called "Genesis Simple Edits". You can just search for it under your WordPress backend.

Thank you for your suggestion, but the content is good in the footer. I've updated the functions.php file to include what we need. I am trying to change the overall placement of the footer. Would like it overlap the .site-inner by about 50px rather than have it follow it.

Without seeing the CSS , I'm only guessing. Try adding position: relative; and top: -50px; to the CSS for .site-footer.

Thanks a bunch - your solution worked! We also found some success with putting the footer in a fixed position at the bottom of the page. Will now need to look at the responsive behavior for both to see what consistently is best. Thanks as always Victor.
