Found the solution,
Adding overflow; auto done the trick
TmgaleMemberCarasmo, I am specifically trying to html markup into a page template. The turtorials you have provided are great, but dont say how you would do this.
It seems when I try to add it into any template I get an error back, sure is strange.
Thanks
TmgaleMemberI tried to use echo but still recieved the same error. I was under the impression that you could input html like such withing a php doc;
<h1><?php $arg ?></h1> or just plain <h1> hello </h1>
Anyway, I readjusted the code as follows but still recieve the error;
<?php /** * Template Name: Practice */ ?> <?php echo <h1> Hello, World </h1> genesis(); ?>
TmgaleMemberIm still struggling with this, does any have any ideas?
TmgaleMemberMoving to ‘genesis_after_header’ worked! 🙂 🙂
Nice one!
TmgaleMemberWhen I refer to banner I mean the blue section that says FAQ.
https://www.allclearlife.co.uk/?s=DDFDFSDF
You can see that the blue section does not extend full width, I will try and hook it in to 'genesis_after_header' and see if that works.
I apprieate the help brad.
TmgaleMemberHi Brad,
I have copied the search.php with the additional HTML over to my child theme .
So the hook would be 'genesis_before_loop'.
add_action( 'genesis_before_loop', 'faq_banner' ); function faq_banner() { echo ( ' <div class ="explode-width"><h1 id="bannerh1">Frequently Asked Questions</h1> <h2 id="bannerh2">Search for your question or find it in the FAQ section below</h2><div class="vc_wp_search wpb_content_element faqsearch"><div class="widget widget_search"><form method="get" class="search-form" action="https://www.allclearlife.co.uk/" role="search"><input type="search" name="s" data-swplive="true" data-swpengine="default" data-swpconfig="default" placeholder="Search the faqs..." autocomplete="off"><input type="submit" value="Search"></form></div></div></div>'); } add_action( 'genesis_before_loop', 'genesis_do_search_title' ); /** * Echo the title with the search term. * * @since 1.9.0 */ function genesis_do_search_title() { $title = sprintf('<div class="archive-description"><h1 class="archive-title">%s %s</h1></div>', apply_filters( 'genesis_search_title_text', __( 'Search Results for:', 'genesis' ) ), get_search_query() ); echo apply_filters( 'genesis_search_title_output', $title ) . "\n"; } genesis();
Thanks
TmgaleMemberThanks for the reply Brad.
Sorry, I thought I provided one in my original post.
https://www.allclearlife.co.uk/faq/
After you search the faq, I want to have the same faq banner appear on the archive page. To emulate this, I need the faqbanner div to be full width beyond site inner.
The previous page has been built using a page builder to create a full-width container that my div could sit in. Now that I am having to insert the HTML markup into a new search.php template, I do not have the luxury of using a page builder to extend my div to the full width of the screen.
Thanks
TmgaleMemberHi tlee,
Use the genesis hide title plugin.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-title-toggle/
Hope this helps
TmgaleMemberThanks for the reply victor, unfortuntely there was no change.
This was my code to add in my CPT, with that in mind I am I still targeting the wrong parameter?
function create_custom_post_type() { $labels = array( 'name' => __( 'Golf Resorts' ), 'singular_name' => __( 'Golf Resort' ), 'all_items' => __('All Golf Resorts'), 'add_new' => _x('Add new Golf Resort', 'Golf Resorts'), 'add_new_item' => __('Add new Golf Resort'), 'edit_item' => __('Edit Golf Resort'), 'new_item' => __('New Golf Resort'), 'view_item' => __('View Golf Resort'), 'search_items' => __('Search in Golf Resorts'), 'not_found' => __('No Golf Resorts found'), 'not_found_in_trash' => __('No Golf Resorts found in trash'), 'parent_item_colon' => '' ); $args = array( 'labels' => $labels, 'public' => true, 'rewrite' => array('slug' => 'GolfResort'), 'supports' => array('title','editor','author','thumbnail','excerpt','comments','custom-fields'), 'taxonomies' => array('category', 'post_tag') ); register_post_type( 'Golf_Resorts', $args);
TmgaleMemberThank you very much brad!
TmgaleMemberIve entered this code in my functions.php.
genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'search result page', 'name' => __( 'Before Content', 'wpsites' ), 'description' => __( 'Search Bar Area', 'wpsites' ), ) ); add_action( 'genesis_before_entry', 'wpsites_widget_before_content' ); function wpsites_widget_before_content() { if ( is_search()) { genesis_widget_area( 'genesis_before_entry', array( 'before' => '<div class="before-content" class="widget-area">', 'after' => '</div>', ) ); } }
But the widget area is not appearing, have I added the conditional statement correctly?
Thanks,
Tom
TmgaleMemberNice one brad!!!
September 22, 2015 at 7:07 am in reply to: Help identifying why unwanted white space is appearing #166335TmgaleMemberI have found the issue.
The ubermenu plugin I was using added a fixed width to sub menu which was causing the unwanted space.
Phew, glad thats over! Thanks for the replys.

September 22, 2015 at 6:53 am in reply to: Help identifying why unwanted white space is appearing #166332TmgaleMemberThis large scroll bar still appears when there is no page content.
So the issue must be with the css for either the header or footer/footer widgets.
Im sure something needs a overflow: hidden attached to it but i dont know what >_<

* Yes victor it is fine at normal desktop resolution, but there are scroll bars at smaller devices, its driving me crazy!!
TmgaleMemberFound out why I had added some css preventing the entry-header from showing! whoops
TmgaleMemberThanks alot brad!
🙂
TmgaleMemberAnyone??
TmgaleMemberThanks for your reply Victor,
I created that page using the genesis sample theme and the page builder visual composer. I am currently taking it upon myself to try and achieve all of my designs with genesis alone. I have been watching courses on php and genesis to brush up my knowledge and its definitely is exciting stuff!
Working with a page builder it can become difficult to visualise how content is inputted using only the default page editor. For example that banner box was created by a individual element in the Visual composer backend editor.
Learning that this would be achieved by a single post is very interesting!
Once again, thank you for your reply!
Tom
TmgaleMemberThanks this worked!
However, at mobile screen sizes there is still white space to the left of the container.
I have tried adding overflow: hidden to a number of elements but I cant seem to prevent it from appearing.
Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing the issue?
Thanks 🙂
