August 6, 2017 at 6:24 pm in reply to: Align bullets and text in Sidebar Widgets in News Pro Theme #210057
TheresaSh
MemberHi Victor,
Took me a while to figure out the accessibility. What I had done before you could respond is to take a site that I had installed news-pro on and had the bullets correct and copied the stylesheet. At any rate I'm not sure I have it right on either site but I also copied the functions.php file. Not sure how to enable or disable accessibility. But I was able to do that - and to work on formatting with most of my site. Hopefully I've cleaned up my site enough...Could you look at my site again now. It looks pretty good and let me know exactly what the sections of code are that replaced the bullets in the widgets and also that made them align correctly if there is more that one line of text? Much appreciated.

MemberHi Eric,
I don't know how to move this to style.css
Worked like a charm though just with html code. If you could tell me how to put this in style.css it would be appreciated. I'm not that advanced.TheresaSh
MemberThere is still the problem of the 2nd question?
2. I am having a problem getting the front page to show my post (as a static page) what is the problem there ? This would be the same post as noted above but I just want it to be the home page. I thought a post can be a Static Front Page?
TheresaSh
MemberThanks Victor,
That is good to know but how can I fix it - i.e. how do I get the url in the top line to break?
Aha I answered my own question - I took a line from further down the post and used it to type the first paragraph in the post and voila it worked! Thank you so much!!

Memberps. here's my site - check it out on your iphone...? responsive works on desktop and laptop?
TheresaSh
MemberI updated Genesis and was not thinking of the myriad problems I had had previously getting the theme to be responsive - whole website is to left on my iphone? What can I do - hopefully in 1 year there is a remedy for this situation that does not involve countless hours of work or buying more stuff.
TheresaSh
MemberThanks Stefsull,
That worked for me also!! Great coding!!
Worked for hours on it and saw this post!!
TheresaSh
MemberHi David,
Thanks that worked for me also!! Beautiful.!!
TheresaSh
MemberThanks Erik
Appreciate the time you have already given...
Will await your return!!
I'll put the code in functions.php and upload the header.
Then wait for you...Theresa
TheresaSh
Memberps. Erik thanks for the functions php code.
What do I do from there with the style.css
And then how /where do I upload the image for the header?TheresaSh
MemberHi Erik
Much appreciate your efforts but I don't know how to do it unless everything is specified.
If I just change what you say above I won't be able to make the further CSS changes unless it is specific. There is nothing peculiar about my case except that I want a full width header with about 250px height and for it to be responsive on any device. I have genesis latest version and news pro latest version installed....fresh install.
Should work with any genesis or child theme?

MemberHi Rbarnes
There is definitely a problem with making the header and footer responsive? It says the theme is responsive? If you get an answer to your query let me know - it seems we all get referred to the same experts with mixed results - for instance have you tried:
http://prettydarncute.com/2013/10/genesis-full-width-header-tutorial/
http://thepixelista.com/responsive-genesis-child-theme-logo/
http://keypresswp.com/getting-your-head-around-header-images/I happen to be using the news pro theme and still no success with this
I am going to post it where I see news pro theme and see if I can get an expert coder as the lack of ability to change from a logo to a header on these themes is driving me nuts!!
TheresaSh
MemberI went to the Pixelista site http://thepixelista.com/responsive-genesis-child-theme-logo/
She gives a good link to try out your site at studiopress viaGitHub with all sizes so you can see where its not working. I haven't had time tonight to perfect it but my site looks ok on all the sizes - just not perfect.
if you put your site in put a backslash at the end like this http://www.mydomain.com/
Thanks everyone for all your expertise.
TheresaSh
MemberOkay, now its showing as not resolved.
Thanks CDM - it didn't make any difference on my iphone - funny if I put my iphone sideways it works great but if I put it up like normal it leaves the white space between the header and the menu- content and lots of space between the menu and the content.!! but its pretty good. If I get it down exactly I'll post again.
TheresaSh
MemberThat worked removing the padding everywhere I could on the media screen sections. Alot better but not perfect. Will try that other one that does all sizes now. But I am getting close!!
I will try taking out the header tagline!! Should not have to leave it out though but whatever - I don't think its going to be a serious SEO breach?
Now the thread is closed. I feel sorry for people when the threads are closed and deemed resolved and other people on the forums dont get the benefit of everyone else's experience. I've seen that happen alot on here. People getting resolution and the thread being closed. Isn't a forum for everyone.?

MemberOkay, Thanks it worked on the live site but the appearance of the header on a mobile device leaves alot to be desired!! Way small...using the feedback from the Helpdesk. I did one on Lifestyle Pro too and the header looks great on Chrome on my laptop but not on mobile device!! Way too big! Going to try the plan on http://wpsites.net/web-design/news-pro-full-container-width-header-image/ as he has a video showing responsive header? We shall see....
TheresaSh
MemberI'm having an extreme problem too!! Trying for about a month - this looks good!! I'll see if I can fix mine - I found videos, etc but none are trying to do what we are - I used 1138 but I still have the side padding and above and below with 1138 x 200 - top is fine but cutting out - still not responsive. I'm going to follow this thread from the top and see how it goes.

MemberI got the posts title to go left, but I want to change the format of the post text, color, and padding between post title, text, author etc. If anyone has any code or way of doing this they would share, let me know. If you could show me also. I notice on here that the code is sometimes provided but you cant see what it would look like when complete so hard to change code without knowingl.

MemberAlso it is showing the posts ok but they title is centred on the page and it looks like a featured post type thing - if you look at my site as above you will see what I mean.

MemberI am not sure what you mean by customize section. If you are talking about Settings - Reading - if you choose Front Page Displays Your Latest Blog Posts there is not option to say Static Front Page - it is either one or the other.
