Oh well, thanks a bunch nonetheless... 🙂

styzerParticipant(facepalm)... I have no idea what I did, but you're right!
Do you know if there's a way to take out "Mozilla Firefox" from that space?
Thank you Susan!

styzerParticipantHi damangmeda,
Sorry I just saw your post today... I saved your reply though as it may come in handy! Here is the completed site (transfer into Genesis and Outreach from a custom multi-site): http://www.musicmonday.ca

styzerParticipantHi,
We are not selling them, these are free download, so there are no carts involved. We decided to bypass Genesis and rebuild the page with cleaning up the CSS from all those added links. So this will remain a mystery...
Thank you Anita!
Andre
styzerParticipantThanks Brad,
I would like to have them in the space right of the logo...
Thanks!
styzerParticipantOK, I think I am starting to get a bit better at this. I am getting the "hook" thing and used a different one to place the secondary menu. I also isolated both primary and secondary in the CSS so they both have different styling.
I've tried the header-right hook, and many other variations, but it always gets rid of my background, and pushes everything down. Is there a way to OVERLAY a hook, or create a box which could contain some links, or call to action? That right side of the header is pretty much wasted...
Many thanks!
Andre
styzerParticipantHi Brad,
What I mean is that that code is already in the functions.php file as is.
<code>/** Reposition the secondary navigation */
remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_subnav' );
add_action( 'genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap', 'genesis_do_subnav' );</code>I used Brian's tutorial and did everything he said to do, including inserting the CSS. But the result isn't showing WHERE I want it.
Andre
styzerParticipantHi Brad,
I want the black menu on top of everything, and everything else the same.
I tried everything I'm told, maybe there are some important steps missing in the instructions. Hard to guess what's missing when you've never done this. Easy for some, not for everyone... 🙂 I wish it was easy for me, and I have experience with WP, so something isn't complete in the instructions. Without context, it's hard to guess right every time.
But thanks for trying, much appreciated.
Regards,
Andre
styzerParticipantThanks Brad,
However, using Brian's tutorial and your instructions, all I see is a black bar with text links. And it's under the main navigation. Editing the functions.php file - the code you suggest was already there. Take a look: http://musicmondayca.barefootheart.com/
Did I miss something? I'd like that bar to be all the way at the top of the page. And for me to be able to add items to it as if using a Text widget. Does that make sense?

styzerParticipantHi all,
I would like to know how I can see the custom-types templates in my editor sidebar in order to select a particular one?
http://musicmondayca.barefootheart.com/arrangements/You should be able to see a whole list of documents, but none are found.
Yet, when I check in the plugin, under Manage, I can see the arrangements post-type, and selecting the code, I pasted it at the bottom of my functions.php file.
If I click the Arrangements link in the left-menu in the admin, I can see all the documents under Arrangements.
Anyone has any idea why?
BTW, this used to be a Multi-site, but it's been separated in two individual sites. Could that be the reason?
Thanks for any help!
Regards,
Andre
styzerParticipantHey Brad,
Just back-stepping a bit: do I need a shortcode or a hook in order to display a post-type on a specific page? I need to display post types that were created using templates (tpl_arrangements.php). Now those pages don't show content although they show on the menu.
All it shows now are post excerpts...
http://musicmondayca.barefootheart.com/arrangements/
Shortcode - what code (or link to a list?)
Hooks - code and file to edit
Thanks! I think once I get that sorted out, it's going to be a breeze to complete the site.
Regards,
Andre
styzerParticipantThanks Brad,
So I copy/pasted Brian's code at the bottom of my functions.php file. But all I see is a ... at the end of the excerpts as before. Something I'm not doing right?
Andre
styzerParticipantThanks Brad,
I'm using that plugin, but the Genesis setting did it!
However, how could I also include a "read more" link at the bottom of each excerpt? Right now, people can only read the rest by clicking on the title.
Cheers!
Andre
styzerParticipantI was offered this solution, so I'm going to try it. I'm sharing it here so others could potentially benefit from it.
In your style.css file, find the following css:
#header {
background: url(images/header.png) repeat-y center center #090909;
margin: 0 auto;
min-height: 120px;
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
}Change this to:
#header {
background: url(images/header.png) repeat-y center center #090909;
background-position: center top !important;
background-color: #090909 !important;
margin: 0 auto;
min-height: 120px;
overflow: hidden;
width: 100%;
}The person said: "This will allow you to upload a custom header without it aligning left or removing the background color."
Thank you!
Regards,
Andre
styzerParticipantI sent a support ticket asking StudioPress to look into it and included a link to this thread. Maybe if enough people also send a support ticket it will grab their attention...
I suspect there is a "relative" positioning of some elements which, once titles are removed, forces the header to be left algned. But I don't know...
styzerParticipantI have similar issues with Outreach.
Spent hours trying a zillion ways to try and get a header going.
The theme creators should look into this. I haven't seen them intervene? It shoudln't be that difficult to place a header and center it. Going to follow this thread with great interest. My next move will be to try another theme which may not have this issue with allowing custom header changes.
Regards,
Andre
styzerParticipantI apologize for the strong language, I was pretty frustrated at the time of writing... I am sure the issue isn't with the theme, but with me, something I'm missing somewhere. I started exploring the use of hooks and will see if this can help my situation.
Hope you all have a great day!

Andre
styzerParticipantHi Alana,
Good to know you were able to have your issue fixed! As far as funky hosting with WordPress sites, after reading a lot of reviews I signed up with http://www.LightningBase.com last week-end for a client's site that had issues on a shared hosting, and wow, what a difference "WP hosting" makes. They help you with migration too to make sure everything works great. You may want to contact them and start a conversation via email. They were very courteous and helpful, sharp and knowledgeable. From now on, I will consider bringing all my new clients there depending on their needs.
Dreamhost FTP also requires the use of their server name in your fyp address, but I don't really like that either. Give me a plain FTP access. I suspect it has to do with security, though.
All the best!
Andre
styzerParticipantHi Alana,
Another thing you could ask your hosting is to restore the site (not your WP per say but the whole site) to what it was a few days ago BEFORE you applied the updates. That way you won't need FTP or anything else. I know BlueHost has backups they can restore and that has helped me tremendously from time to time.
All the best,
Andre
April 7, 2013 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Go-to plugins & processes that make you successful with Genesis? #33889styzerParticipantOzzy,
Now that's the difference between reading miles of air and reading content with substance... making my way through surefire, Ben Hunt, Bill Erickson, and already find helpful stuff.
Workflow comes from clear vision and structured process. First question: am I a true web designer, and do I want to be one, reallyreallyreally? I love to join clear communication and creativity. But am I invested in making my client turn a profit with their site? I'm interested for them to, but I don't have what it takes to build this into their project. Maybe I need to team up with someone who can bring that aspect, if I don't find a way to truly learn that.
Going back in...
Regards,
Andre
