Hi - Thanks but I tried everything possible and it doesn't make any difference. If I change either area the links get bigger and the title gets smaller.
I also used firebug to identify code but struggled to find what you identified.
However it is giving me more confidence and understanding.
Any other ideas?
strifemitMemberHi - Thanks but it changes the main title as well, so the links and title are the same size font. I want larger link fonts with the title to stay the same as is now.
Could you also tell me how you worked out the code location? I have worked through the CSS file testing with different colours to see what changes. Unfortunately that really didn't help a lot so I am working through some CSS tutorials but nothing I have found so far is really useful.
strifemitMemberHi
Thanks. That is all useful. I didn't get the whole reply by email so copied from forum response. I have already begun reading and I realise now there has to be quite a bit of trial and error using element inspector. I added a google font but I think it may get overridden later on in the CSS. No doubt I hope I find this eventually. I am using LifestylePro Blue on one site and Purple on the other. I added the google font at the beginning of the CSS but maybe I should have put it in the LifestylePro Blue area.
Thanks anyway - you have moved forward and I'll see how far I can get.
strifemitMemberI thought I had explained but perhaps this will make it clearer:
I printed of the style.css for my child theme LifestylePro.
I want to learn to read or at least understand the content and how it works so I can make changes to my websites.
At the beginning of the printout there is a Table of Contents. In it there is a HTML5 Reset followed by - Baseline Normalise, - Box Sizing, - Float Clearing.
This tells me that there are three sections HTML5 Reset, Box Sizing and Float Clearing.
Obviously I want to understand how these and the rest of the contents impact my website.
Basically as I work through the Contents the more I will understand and be able to change the child theme code to fit my needs.
When I look up Float Clearing using Google I get this:
The float property specifies whether or not an element should float.
The clear property is used to control the behavior of floating elements.
Which doesn't really explain what it is for and when you would use it or why it is in my style.css.
What I want is a tutorial or something that will aid me to work through my child theme css so I can understand it.
Hope that is clearer.
strifemitMemberThanks. I assume you mean create the code using the previous link you sent and add to function.php, then call it as a widget. All new to me. I'll see what I can do. My child theme only supports to menu locations. What surprises me is there is no simple link list drop down widget to add to the sidebar or even anywhere.
strifemitMemberThanks. I went through all the colors to see what changes occurred until I had something better. Not perfect but good enough. It turned out to be around the areas you refered to.
strifemitMemberHi
Thanks. I did program a long long time ago but! I have been working through the CSS and have a long way to go plus having difficulty working it out especially as I am not sure how to deal with code and defaults that come through from the main theme. Have managed quite a bit so far and only have a few things to sort out in particular the drop down menu for the sidebar.
I expect I could work out the link info you gave me but not so sure about where I would need to put it in the CSS.
strifemitMemberThank you. I'll try that out and also find out how I change color of title and bar when hovering over it.
strifemitMemberI worked it out. Eureka and it was really easy once I did. Thank you. Just perfect.
strifemitMemberThank you. How does it actually work? I see it has a excerpt length in words. Does this mean all excerpts have to be the same length?
strifemitMemberThank you. I am slowly winning I think. What is the best way to update the CSS? Is there a plug-in? Will the code you gave me affect the image?
strifemitMemberDo I have to keep a log of all these changes in case of future updates?
