To have the featured image show when sharing your homepage link on social media, you can use Yoast SEO.
There’s a setting for the homepage image in the social tab: http://d.pr/i/1biA7
You will want to make sure that the original image is large enough for FB, and I suggest using the FB debugger tool to force it to fetch the new image:

MemberHi Erika,
I'm not sure that's exactly what I want to do, nor how I would actually do it. My site functions as a blog currently. I wouldn't know how to code a new, blank "Home" page to function and look exactly as it does now if that makes sense.

MemberWorth mentioning also that it's currently pulling an old banner image. I updated the banner weeks ago, and that hasn't cycled through if by chance it's defaulting to grabbing that image.

MemberOh man. Installing that plugin (and even after deactivating/deleting it) seems to have screwed up the regular widget. I have "Show Category Archive Link" checked, and it's no longer showing on the front end 🙁 Yarg! That was my band-aid for now, and it's gone, even though checked within the widget to show. Help!

MemberThank you for this - unfortunately, the "include pagination" option in the widget didn't actually yield anything :/ Maybe because the plugin hasn't been updated in 5 years haha. It was worth a shot! Would still love another solution for this if anybody knows of one!

MemberI'm not able to find that plugin anywhere? Can you please link me to it? Thanks!

MemberHmm. I did this and see what you're saying. I'm just not happy with the sizing and padding. Anywhere I can adjust those in the CSS maybe?
