Anybody running the News Pro theme? I'd like to place a logo image where the header/tagline text is on the left side of header. Not sure how to do that within the theme. Would essentially like to still have the text there on the backend for SEO purposes but be hidden on the front end and replaced with an image in that spot, if that makes sense. Guidance appreciated! (note that site is not live to the public/completely built yet)

Try the customizer. The title will output in the HTML source even when the logo is active.

Hmm. I did this and see what you're saying. I'm just not happy with the sizing and padding. Anywhere I can adjust those in the CSS maybe?

All the CSS is located under the Site Header section in the style.css file. You can adjust the height there.
