Well, I went in to the theme function php file and pasted it at the bottom. I entered:
add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'theme_menu_extras', 10, 2 );
/**
* Filter menu items, appending either a search form or today's date.
*
* @param string $menu HTML string of list items.
* @param stdClass $args Menu arguments.
*
* @return string Amended HTML string of list items.
*/
function theme_menu_extras( $menu, $args ) {//* Change 'primary' to 'secondary' to add extras to the secondary navigation menu
if ( 'primary' !== $args->theme_location )
return $menu;//* Uncomment this block to add a search form to the navigation menu
/*
ob_start();
get_search_form();
$search = ob_get_clean();
$menu .= '<li class="right search">' . $search . '';
*///* Uncomment this block to add the date to the navigation menu
/*
$menu .= '<li class="right date">' . date_i18n( get_option( 'date_format' ) ) . '';
*/return $menu;
}
I guess I'm too tired to fight with this anymore. Thank you for trying to help me. I'll go at it again tomorrow.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI actually just tried that, and nothing happened... the only difference is I added it to the beginning of the child themes functions.php file. I'll go back in and move it to the bottom and see if that helps.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI have tried and tried to figure this out. I put the code you suggested above into my CSS code area, but nothing happens. I think it still requires css styling, at which I am lousy! http://www.theglutenalarm.com I wanted the search box to be
right on the secondary nav bar. I still need help.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI am using news pro and just saw this thread. Where, in the functions.php file do you add the above code? I tried it, and got in trouble. I tried to un do it, but to no avail. I have to get in touch with Hostgator to help me through my cpanel to straighten it out. I put the code at the very end and clicked save. Not right... I realize. BUT, what should I have done? Thanks so much, ShariLee Beynon, http://www.bloggingmywayforward.com

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberTonya,
Thank you so much. I have never worked in javascript, but I'm a quick study. Thanks also for the footer fix. I took the black color out and just made the background white--at least for now.I don't have photoshop. I use Gimp. I think I'll try that route first. You have been amazing. I love your site. I'll be nosing around there. 😉 thank you again, ShariLee

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberTonya,
Hi again. I finally found that boarder and changed the color from grey to red. Now I just have to get my header to wrap or fix it so it will wrap... Any ideas?

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberTonya,
Thank you so much. I entered each of these codes in the CSS Stylesheet editor, and your expertise totally resolved my nav bar problem + the nav bar and the header are now touching and look really good.The widgets fit great in the footer... the last one is far to the right, but I have had that happen before in other genesis themes.
In order to get my header to extend all the way across, I was thinking I needed to add a layer of my #18162C blue that extends out a bit. I guess my last question would be is that the correct way to go? I am trying to get my header to look like the one you did for your site... Maybe I should just hire you to do it...

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberThank you, Tonya. My site is http://www.bloggingmywayforward.com I am trying to get several things done. 1, the nav bar at the top with no spaces between the nav and header + the nav bar to go all the way across evenly spaced
2. A dark blue band under the header I have to extend all the way across in the same width as the header so it looks seamless.
3. The footer to go all the way across as well, but so it does not cause a problem when I start using the footer widgets.
Does that make sense? I did this with my site, http://www.theglutenalarm.com and it worked, but it is a different theme.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI don't mean to sound flip here, but a WordPress blog without genesis would be like buying a completely basic car with nothing in or on it but what it absolutely needs to get you from point A to point B.
Genesis framework has made the difference for me because the level of frustration that comes with trying to get a basic theme (which you must have) to do anything but exactly what it looks like when you choose it --is like tearing your hair out.
Child Themes that work in concert with Genesis are amazing, and they are professional looking with tons of flexibility. Hope this helps...

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberShariLeeMemberIt is actually pretty easy. Just go to https://en.gravatar.com/ and open an account. Then create an avatar of yourself or upload a photo image of yourself. Then list the website and follow the directions. It should not take you more than 20 or 30 minutes, and once you have an account, you can use the images anywhere you choose. Hope this helps. ShariLee, a fellow-learner of genesis themes...wordpress blogs... and etc.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberElger,
If you are using a pc, try running the defrag, and then run the disk cleanup on your computer. Then restart. If that does not help, call your internet service provider. Sometimes you just need a higher speed. This does not sound like a StudioPress genesis or theme problem. Even though you were fine before you started using the SP child theme, Agency, it is probably a coincidence. I have a number of websites, and I have StudioPress themes on every one of them. Sometimes I even have two or three open at once while I am working on similar changes for each. When my computer gives me a problem about it, I just close the browser, do what I told you above and then restart. I hope this helps. Sincerely, ShariLee

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberWill this plugin work with Outreach Pro as well?
ShariLee Beynon
GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberThat was great information you just gave, Ben ... Do you by any chance know how to make the actual post area wider than 960 and the primary sidebar wider? I have an opt in that is too wide for the primary, and I would love the center part to be wider also... Thank you.

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI use a plugin called shareaholic! Works great!

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberI have a copy, but how do I get it to you. Can I just attach it to an email?

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberThank you both... I don't know where my head was... That works! Thank you again

GoldaVere IMSShariLeeMemberThis is just not working for me. I'm so frustrated with my website and new theme right now I can't even think to figure this out. Why do we need a private reply message anyway. If you know something that could help me with my dilemma, I would be so grateful, but if not, then I understand. Thanks, ShariLee
