Thanks for checking this out for me. Just managed to get this fixed and working properly again. It seems when I updated a page there was a rogue ";" at the bottom. No idea why, but it affected the entire layout of the front page. Frustratingly it took over two hours to work out that that was the problem...

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I looked through all of the posts but couldn't find anything that seemed to work. Eventually, I found the "WP Meta and date remover" widget, installed it, and followed it's advice to comment out the following code:

/*.entry-footer .entry-meta {
border-top: 1px solid #eeeee8;
margin: 0;
padding: 32px 0 8px;*/

So far it seems to be working, but I still need to check on multiple devices.
