Sidebars.
The layouts are:
3 column --> Sidebar (secondary) / Content / Sidebar (primary)
2 column --> Sidebar (primary) / ContentI want the two column layout to be ---> Sidebar (secondary) / Content
so that it matches the order of the 3 column layout.
May 27, 2014 at 8:41 am in reply to: eleven40 pro (Sidebar-content) switching sidebar widgets #106983mikemdgMemberThat's a neat plugin, but unfortunately didn't have the layout option I was looking for.
mikemdgMemberOkay, that sounds like what I was thinking, using the "Sample" theme as the child theme and just kind of building it from that. It's pretty stripped down at the start anyway!
Thanks for the answers and appreciate the insights!
mikemdgMemberFound what I was looking for! Just posting in case anyone else comes across the topic and wants an answer:

mikemdgMemberAs an alternative... I was just thinking - is there a way to just make a sidebar or widget for each category and then I could put specific content into each one? So I might have ford-widget.php / chevy-widget.php... etc. ? And then I could put my php content in each? I don't really care the method, but the end result is that I'd like to be able to create specific sidebars for each page template.
mikemdgMemberI'm doing a site now with the Genesis Child theme and found the whole Framework vs. Child Theme confusing as well (only for the genesis child theme) ...I've been making sites with other child themes for a long time. My Genesis Child theme however does have those layout options available in the settings.
mikemdgMemberCheck under the "Genesis" tab in WordPress and under "Default Layout" it should have some options with visual examples of the layouts. I think the one on the far right is header/content and has no sidebar.
mikemdgMemberSorry, I see the problem now... basically it's using your "featured image" as the icon. So if the featured image is of a large size, it's just sizing that down to 150x150. I don't know off the top off my head where it is, but I would imagine you would just need to have the featured image icon be replaced with the thumbnail version rather than the full size scaled. Sorry, not sure where that is.
mikemdgMemberIt looks like the current 'actual size' of your generated thumbnail icons is currently 156x156 - so the load speed differential by changing that setting is going to be absolutely minimal, but it never hurts to optimize them if that is the size they will be.
To change the generated thumbnail size you can go to: Settings > Media -- and then change the thumbnail size width and height boxes to 150.
mikemdgMemberYes, I see what you're saying. I looked at the demo too and saw there is no link. All I really changed was the title and number of posts that are supposed to show, but I changed those settings back and it didn't seem to work either. I also noticed in the box where it allows you to put custom [Read More...] text, it's not actually putting that but instead just [...]
I guess I will have to keep digging. Or maybe try replacing it with a new instance of the widget.
