kathiemtParticipant
Finally sorted. Got the Genesis people to have a look. Turned out that Genesis hadn't updated from 1.8.2. to 2.0.2 and the Pro themes need to have Genesis 2.0+ I didn't get notification that Genesis needed updating on this particular site so deleted it and uploaded a fresh copy and that part of the site is now working.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantUnfortunately the same result Andrea. I activated Genesis, deleted the Executive Pro theme, downloaded a fresh copy, reinstalled it and activated it and the same thing has happened. Very strange.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThanks Andrea. Will do that right now and report back to let you know how I go. Much appreciated.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThanks, but that didn't work. I ended up with this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_GLOBAL, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or '$' in /clientdata/www/au/p/publicspeaking.com.au/blog/wp-content/themes/crystal/functions.php on line 140

kathiemtParticipantI'm wondering if it's possible to edit the text boxes to remain solid so that the background image doesn't override the text?
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantI've actually done it with the simple full screen plugin and works well. Not sure I like the whole background image for this particular site I'm working on but will leave that to the client to decide.

Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantIs your site still live? I wanted to see what you had done with the single image background and I'm currently researching to do the same.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThanks Summer. It's nice to have some more places to find great themes.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantYes, thanks Anita. What's happened is the social media icons have overlaid the ribbon. Actually doesn't look out of place. I've changed the colours of the social media icons and they look like they're supposed to be on the ribbon. I'll wait and see what the owner thinks once she sees it.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantOk, thanks Anita. So you're saying I can't put them up there at all then?
I've just added that code to see what would happen - it's even putting that text over the ribbon and not up in the top right-hand side. I'll have to work out what the padding settings are for that section. I'll go off and explore the css again.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantI have noticed there doesn't seem to be as many themes showing at http://my.studiopress.com/community-themes/. I thought there used to be a lot more listed.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThat sorted it. Sorry to bother you. Was very tired last night and had checked everything I could find. Found an obsolete Twitter plugin and have removed it.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantI've installed Genesis Simple Edits but it's not showing up there Brad. And I use the same Genesis Core files for all the sites I maintain and it's never shown up before. I've checked the child functions.php and it's not there either. I've looked everywhere I can and can't find reference to it at all. And yet it's there on the website in the page source code showing up under the footer div wrap. I'll disable all the plugins and re-enable to see if I can find it there. I do have a Twitter plugin but didn't think that was producing it as it has a different name.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThanks Brad, they are never called what I think they might be. Probably why I can never find them in searches 🙂
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantOk, thanks for that. Yes, I'm learning a lot too. Still haven't got that part sorted yet but have been able to do a number of other things.
There must be a way of doing a shortcode for posts on a category page without it affecting the blog page. Cheers.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantIs your site live? Might be easier to see the site and go from there.
Are you wanting to edit the text only for the navigation and not anywhere else? I use Outreach on a couple of sites I've done. If you look for line 261 in your css file which is menu-primary and look a bit further down you'll see the font size there. The fonts list is in the Defaults section starting at line 68.
Hope that helps?
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantI've done all that Vivek. But if I change the settings for the blog template it then changes my blog page too. I don't want both to be the same. I want the archive to be in excerpts and my blog page to be full posts.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantLorin, where did you edit the post_info part? I've checked my css and can't find it in there. Was hoping to remove that too. Did you find that the intro text has a different background colour to the rest of your theme? Mine is. http://dandenong-ranges-photography.com.au/category/photography-jobs/ Was hoping to have more than 3 posts showing too. Might have to read up more on that.
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantThank you for this discussion you two. I've been wanting to do this too. What I can't figure out is how to get it looking like Lorin's page, just snippets of posts, instead of the whole post?
Kathie Thomas
kathiemtParticipantPerhaps you need to share what theme you are also using? Is it mobile responsive or one that isn't?
Generally the font size and type of text can be edited in the css style sheet of the theme you are using - the child theme, that is.
