The final code I have working is:

add_filter('genesis_attr_entry', 'hhoz_addEntryClass', 11);
function hhoz_addEntryClass($attributes) {
	$attributes['class'] .= ' services';
	return $attributes;
}

I needed to add the priority of 11 otherwise my change would not show up.

I was wondering about your original suggestion in using a custom body class -- is this a better option or does it not matter?
