Hi,
I'm looking at using the Genesis framework for websites I build in the future.
I've done some research, and my only concern is with how well WooCommerce works with Genesis themes.I see that StudioPress have made the Genesis Connect plugin to enable WooCommerce to work with it, however it hasn't been updated in a while and only offers support for WordPress 4.2.8 and WooCommerce 2.1+
I just wanted to pop in and ask if this could be an issue at all? I do like how easy it is to add WooCommerce to a WordPress theme. Will I need to replace the template files for WooCommerce that Genesis Connect creates or modify them in any way for new versions of WooCommerce?
Do all Genesis child themes produced by StudioPress seamlessly support WooCommerce via this plugin?
Appreciate any help,
Cheers

May 18, 2016 at 5:04 am #185821Victor FontModeratorGenesis Connect for WooCommerce is written by the authors of the Genesis Framework. It works perfectly with current versions. I regularly put up new eCommerce sites using the Genesis/WooCommerce combo. WooCommerce is highly customized on some of these sites. I'm putting one up this month for an architect to sell his house plans where the catalog will blow you way. I've never seen anything like it on an eCommerce site. This is a more recent site with a fairly vanilla WooCommerce: http://coachsoats.com/
The Genesis Connect for WooCommerce plugin consists of a couple of WooCommerce templates customized for Genesis and a customized product loop. You still have to declare support for WooCommerce in your functions.php. If you want to customize WooCommerce further, use the Genesis Connect templates as your starting point instead of the delivered WooCommerce templates.

May 20, 2016 at 1:15 am #185940kochi97MemberHi,
I am interested to purchase the Genesis Framework WordPress Theme. But I am confused about these 2 terms, one is Genesis Framework and the other is Child Theme. I am not sure what these 2 terms actually mean. Would appreciate much if someone expert can explain these 2 terms fully and clearly.I am interested to purchase the Genesis framework WP Theme for build 20 to 30 sites around Amazon Niche Websites mostly Review websites and Adsense Niche Websites. Would I be able to do that by purchasing the Genesis Framework WP Theme or do i have to buy any other items like Child Theme and so on. So right around these matter i want to clarify myself what actually is a Child Theme and why do i have to care for Child theme.
I would very much appreciate it if someone actually discuss the matters here for more understanding.
Thanks

You should never modify the code in Genesis.
2. A child theme includes code to style the appearance of the Genesis framework.
Child themes aren't generally updated so you can modify the code in any StudioPress child theme.
Child themes also include custom functionilty using PHP and jQuery to add special effects and features to a specific theme.
You can use Genesis on as many sites as you like and also use StudioPress child themes on unlimited sites.
