Thanks, I was trying to edit the 13px settings not the decimaled number - got it fixed up now - thank you!

Okay - went to screen options - discussion was not checked, I checked it off, and it's showing as allowing comments and allowing trackbacks, so I unclicked those - then saved the post. Then clicked those settings on and now it seems to be working!

Thank you so much - I had no idea about that 'screen option' area and now will refer to that when a section is missing in a post. Thank you for your patience and help - truly appreciated.

You probably just caught me as I was changing how that was listed in a plugin - similar posts via categories - I can change what the similar posts list, and I just changed it 😉

It's fixed in post above...it doesn't have the usual checkmarks for comments on or off - just a space to add a comment is the only post specific setting I have in admin side of a post.

Unfortunately there is very little under the COMMENTS section under the post in admin.
