    Solved my own problem...

For future reference it is not sufficient to paste the code into the editor window when replacing a file. The whole file has to be replaced via ftp.

Luckily I found the original buried away in a backup.

I changed the height in functions.php header section from 87 to 120px.
Added my custom sized header and the requirement to crop it in the options was gone.

But it still does not display correctly. Is there a container element which holds the image needing a tweak also?

    Am on metro theme.

Thanks Brad I was hoping to avoid using a plugin but clearly you think this is the best option?

    This works for me..

You can create however many you need name then widget 1 and so on , construct them with whatever inserts you need and use the relevant shortcodes on the page to display them.

    Issue resolved.

Very strange I moved some of the widgets about and it went back to what it should be doing.

    Anyone?

I have another search through the stylesheet and tried playing with a couple of options but sadly to no avail.

What I am trying to do is reduce the size of the .entry title at the top of the site pages which are defaulting to 48px.

    Example here.

I recently bought a network storage device. This has as one of the packages within the firmware the ability to install wordpress and the sql package.

Handy solution which you can connect to the internet and test the loading times via friends checking it on various platforms.

Many thanks for that link Anitac I now have a much better understanding of how a mobile responsive theme would work.

If I were to purchase Agency or Eleven 40 I assume both of these themes would be interchangeable with the content I have already built?

I wouldn't expect a seamless transition, but would hope tweaks would be minimal?

First up you need to decide if your want your front page (also known as the home page) to display a static page (this would be content which does not change frequently) or a dynamic page. A dynamic page would update itself with your latest blog posts at the top which would then descend in date order.

Much of this would depend on what sort of organisation you were building a site for.

    Thanks Susan.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the term mobile responsive? I view my site with a 7 inch nexus and a Samsung S2 smartphone and the pages is formatted to the screen. (no scroll bars). Admittedly the text is to small to read on the smartphone but a quick tap will display it by column which can be flicked up or down.

If the theme is already doing this what would be the advantages of a mobile responsive theme?

I do not have any mobile plugins activated.

One other question if I may.

As I understand it all genesis child themes are interchangeable?

I know this could be akin to asking how long is a piece of string but if I were to choose a (mobile responsive) 3 column theme (the same as associate) how much editing would I need to do? Theoretically would all the content fall straight into place?
