well that is odd! so you're saying that when you hover on the name "ned fudd" you dont see a link? all the other names have no links, but that one, even after a cache refresh, is still a live link. i've also looked on my phone and ipod with the same results. i thought i'd wait a couple days just to be sure, but sure enough, that first name is still a link!
any suggestions for how to make that first name behave like the others?
again, thanks for your help with this!
emilydesign_agencyMemberhi david, thanks so much for your suggestion! i've implemented the code and if you take a quick look, you'll see that it's working on all the posts except for the first one. any idea why that is?
design_agencyMemberyes! this makes perfect sense. i was thinking i'd need to make a custom post type for each of them, but this is much simpler. thanks so much laurie!
design_agencyMemberaha! brilliant. thank you!
design_agencyMemberrobin, you have totally made my day. thanks!!
design_agencyMemberthat's just the nudge i needed, thanks!
design_agencyMemberhi lauren,
thanks so much for this. it makes perfect sense to me, though when i try it out i get nothing. i'm not quite sure where to go from here and might look for another design solution. nevertheless, thanks for your suggestion!
emily
design_agencyMemberworked like a charm! thanks so much andrea.
design_agencyMembersure thing, and sorry not to include it sooner.
thanks, emilydesign_agencyMemberthanks so much for the link though i'm already familiar with firebug and chrome's developer tools. using chrome's inspector i've been able to restyle everything about the search box *except* the text. wasnt sure if there was something i was missing.
design_agencyMemberhi david, you've given me a lot of good leads, yet nothing yet has worked (boo!)
im new to the hooks and filters side of development, so nothing is obvious to me. what should i change that "is_single()" tag to if these are indeed portfolio posts? not sure this will make a difference but here's a link to the page i'm working on.
thanks again for taking the time,
emilydesign_agencyMemberhi dave,
thanks for taking a look at this!
i gave your suggestion a go but no luck. just to be sure, here is the code i used.
function wpsites_custom_post_type_links() { if( 'portfolio' == get_post_type() && is_single() && in_category('glass')) {?> <?php previous_post('« « %', 'Previous Slide Show', 'no'); ?> | <?php next_post('% » » ', 'Next Slide Show', 'no'); ?> <?php } } add_action('genesis_entry_content', 'wpsites_custom_post_type_links', 5 );
do you know a better way to do this? it seems like this should be working since im trying to link between the same category, but perhaps there's a better way?
any insight is appreciated,
emilydesign_agencyMemberhi brad,
i've been trying to figure this out on my own but im spinning my wheels. when i add this code from your tutorial it works, of course, but it adds previous / next to *all* of my portfolio posts. what im after is to have previous / next links for only 3 pages within my portfolio to appear above the post content (see schematic here, links circled in red).
i've created a category for these pages (glass) and thought if i used 'glass' conditionally it would work. but i must be missing something. i've been scouring your site for clues but i've really hit a wall. the most recent code i've got in my functions.php is here.
page im trying to add this nav to is here.
any chance you can spot whats up?
design_agencyMemberscratch that—found one... sorry for not looking more before asking.

design_agencyMemberok, i think i'm getting this, however, all of the nav i'm adding is on my portfolio pages which don't allow me to use categories. i've found a tutorial about adding "types" to the portfolio, would that work? if not, could you point me in the right direction to add categories to my portfolio pages?
design_agencyMemberwow! ok, that's a great tutorial. by looking at the link i sent along, is everything in there for both of the secondary navigation lines i've got now?
and here is the code that's currently in my content box (is that the code you were asking for)? is this the best way to point to github?
thanks so much,
emilydesign_agencyMemberhuzzah!
that's the ticket... thanks lauren!!
design_agencyMemberstill trying to figure this one out... anyone out there have any tips?
thanks!
design_agencyMemberwell, that worked perfectly, thanks dave!
design_agencyMemberwhoa! that's a jinx of some sort or another.
thanks cdils and ozzy, this tutorial is *exactly* what i need.
cheers!
