Thanks Davinder.
dave_sParticipantQuick question...
What's the difference between the top and bottom?
add_image_size( 'home-bottom', 150, 100, TRUE ); add_image_size( 'home-top', 400, 200, TRUE );
dave_sParticipantThank you Davinder, I'll give that a go later this evening.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Dave
dave_sParticipantThanks so much, Susan.
Absolutely no difference between your demo site and the Genesis demo page. So definitely an issue with my local install.
Thanks for taking the time to help out, it's really appreciated 🙂
As for Cadbury's/Hershey.... isn't it ironic that some elements of government will do everything in their power to protect it's citizens from the evil of excessive cocoa content, yet fight tooth and nail for the right to have a cupboard full of assault rifles.
It's a funny old world 🙂
Nonetheless, huge great bar of Cadburys on its way.
dave_sParticipantHey Susan, that's really kind. Thank you.
Virtual Jaffa Cake winging its way over to you 🙂
dave_sParticipantSorry, Susan.
Jennifer was happy to help, but unless she can see my site her hands are tied. With it being on a local install it's not possible at the moment.
She suggested it could be a local install thing or that it may be worth re-downloading the zip.
If anyones got a spare test site on their server it might be worth taking a look to see if it's any different?
dave_sParticipantAppears Jennifer replied to my ticket. Just found it after signing into my IPs mail portal.
It wasn't marked as spam so I must have deleted it by mistake in Outlook.
Anyways, support system works..... my email reading skills appear broken..... order is restored.
dave_sParticipantWell, no response from the ticket support team!
dave_sParticipantAppreciate the reply, Susan.
There's definitely something which differs between the demo and what comes in the zip file, but for the life of me I can't figure out what.
Using firebug it appears the style sheet css is the same, but when you flick between the install and the demo page there's an obvious difference between widths and font rendering. The demo is much cleaner and sharper.
I'll submit a support ticket and see if they can shed any light on it.
dave_sParticipantA lot of the information was outdated.
In what way, Susan?
Most of the information was still very relevant and was a fantastic resource for anyone looking for solutions to theme specific issues.
I appreciate 2.0 is on its way but not every theme will get the update treatment, or at least not straight away and to replicate the amount of info that was in the old forum here in the new forum is not looking good. Taking a look at your unanswered posts link there are 187 unanswered posts in the past 2 months. I bet a large proportion of those posts could have been answered by making people aware of the information held in the old theme specific forum.
However, I wont get on my soap box about the effectiveness of the new system as Nick appears to take umbridge with anyone with an opinion of it. Or, maybe just mine 🙂
dave_sParticipantThat's hugely disappointing.
It was a gold mine of information and was the first port of call when I was looking for solutions for specific themes.
Unless the info has been saved elsewhere, that's a shocking waste of a genuinely valuable resource.
dave_sParticipantI have to agree with Kempie.
Whilst I understand the reasons why the Studiopress guys felt they needed an easier system of forum management the result is less than stellar for the customer.
It's very disheartening to see Studiopress' response to criticism of the current system as: We've already explained the reasons for the change and will therefore lock any further posts complaining about it
What that actually means is: We hear you but we're not listening
As Seth Godin would say: It's broken because I say it's broken
Guys, for you the forum might be easier to manage but for your customers it's broken.
dave_sParticipantThanks Mike, appreciate the reply.
dave_sParticipantI take it that's a no then!
dave_sParticipantAnyone?
dave_sParticipantI've been trying to do the same with regard to the 'Says:' element.
Used the snippet to remove 'says' but still left with the colon.
Is it possible to remove the colon or is Mikes method the only solution?
dave_sParticipantThanks Brad, you're a star.
That worked a treat.
Added a bit of bottom padding and increased the width slightly and it now looks the dogs nadges ( not sure if that translates well, but rest assured it's a good thing 🙂 )
As for the arrow, it copied fine into the functions file.
Thanks a lot Brad, appreciate your help.
Dave
dave_sParticipantAny other ideas... anyone? 🙂
dave_sParticipantHi anitac,
I took a look at the Woocommerce plugin but it appears to be aimed at those who have products of their own to sell.
The site I'm wanting to build will be predominantly affiliate based, so I would have no need for 'add to cart/checkout' type functionality.
Being a bit thick I can't for the life of me figure out how to style the site in the way I explained above. There must be a way, right? 🙂
Cheers
Davedave_sParticipantFigured it out... eventually!
