I'm really sorry Alana, but I just can't replicate the setup you have - I don't have the option to upload a logo via Appearance > Header at all. Hopefully someone else will be able to help!
CharlieMemberTo help me help you here, I need to ask you a question: have you already added some code to your functions.php to do with the header? Because straight out of the box, as far as I can see, there is no Appearance > Header option with the Mocha theme. Did you enable the custom header functionality and set the height and width to 500 x 50?

But seriously, thanks for the kind words!
CharlieMemberThere is a short answer...and it is as follows.
Put this code in your Home - Call to Action widget:
<a class="button alignright" href="#">Contact Us Today</a>
Replace the # with your url and the Contact Us Today text with whatever message you like.
That is all.

May I present to you...the long version!
I wrote it up as a post because it took me quite a while and I'll lose track of it here.
Question for the mods: is there a time limit for editing one's posts? There seems to be.
March 19, 2013 at 6:01 pm in reply to: How to extend width of a single section on home page only? #29526CharlieMemberHere's the short version:
1. Register yourself a brand spanking new widget.
2. Whack your slider in there.
3. Write a wee function to call your widget/slider where you want it to appear.
4. Style your slider up.
5. Change the size of your slider to 1440px in the slider settings.
Long version coming shortly...
Note: I'm 100% there are better ways of doing this, but this does work - I've tested it myself.
CharlieMemberI'd defo recommend changing your username from admin to something else. Go to Users > Add user and add a new administrator user. You can then delete your old admin user.
March 17, 2013 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Widget area between header and nav-bar in Genesis Sample Theme 1.9 #28632CharlieMemberHi Betsy
This is a little bit involved, so I wrote up a wee tutorial on how to do it. If anyone reading this knows of a better approach, please let me know!
Betsy, if you get stuck, or it doesn't work, give me a shout.
CharlieMemberYou can remove the polka dots by commenting out the second line below in your style sheet.
body { background: url("images/lightbodybg.png") repeat-x scroll 0 0 transparent; // comment out this line color: #605F5F; font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 300; line-height: 1.5625; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: none; }
March 17, 2013 at 11:02 am in reply to: How do I duplicate my site just like the demo Agency theme? #28603CharlieMemberIf you followed the instructions exactly, then it should work. To recap: go to Tools > Import > WordPress. Select your xml file. Make sure to tick the include attachments. Hit submit.
CharlieMemberSmall comment: make it easier for people to buy the plugin. From the landing page there is no purchase link (that I can see). I can sign up for news...but not buy.
CharlieMemberThat's pretty cool.
CharlieMemberYup, that's easy.
So say you wanted to change it to the colour red:
#nav ul { background-color: red; //Add this line. Change red to whatever colour you desire (name or hex value). float: left; width: 100%; }
To get to the style sheet, go to Appearance > Editor from the dashboard, then add the first line above.
CharlieMemberPost a link to your site Freddie and I'm sure there'll be lots of people willing to lend a hand. It sounds as if the things you want to do are quite simple (relatively) so it won't take some of the gurus round here (like Brad) long to get it looking how you want.
CharlieMemberCool, thanks.
CharlieMemberThat's ok.
Sounds like the right thing to do re the logo.
No you won't lose these changes when you update. You're making them to a child theme (metro). It's changes to the parent theme (genesis) which won't survive the update process (but you're not making changes there, so you're good!).
CharlieMemberLet's try another tack.
1. Uncomment out the lines I suggested.
2. How big is your image? Let's say your logo was 140 (high) x 100 (wide), you'd substitute these values into the code, like below:
// Add support for custom header add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array( 'flex-height' => true, 'height' => 100, 'width' => 140 ) );
3. Then, go to Appearance > Header and upload your file.
That should do it.
But, you shouldn't really be editing your functions.php directly through your WordPress dashboard if you don't have FTP access setup because if you make a coding mistake and take your site down, you won't be able to re-upload a working functions.php
On the Synthesis FAQ page, it explains how to get your FTP access details: http://websynthesis.com/faqs/
CharlieMemberMary, no need to buy another theme!
Try following the steps in this tutorial: http://www.wpmayor.com/code/how-to-set-your-own-logo-in-a-genesis-child-theme/
If you get stuck, come back here and I'll be happy to help.
CharlieMemberI just spent 30 mins trying to work out a solution to this, read some tutorials, wrote some code, got something kind of working, wrote it all out here, then looked at your site, realising that I hadn't actually done that yet, and saw, to my horror, that you've already solved this!
Can you please tell me how? There must be a better way than the one I came up with, ha.
CharlieMemberYou can get rid of the gray and black lines (the black lines look wrong on their own) by deleting or commenting out the following lines from your style.css
This line:
.post-wrap { border-bottom: 5px solid #23211F; // Delete or comment out this line }
And the first line here:
.page .page, .post { border-bottom: 5px solid #898989; // Delete or comment out this line margin: 0; padding: 0; }
