Did you find a solution to this? I see that it is resolved.
You can copy the single.php file into your child theme folder and then add code to it using hooks and filters.

cehwithamMemberI like it, I think you've used the Metro theme well and the green really sets it off.
It'd be nice to see some more images, maybe use thumbnails next to the main posts on the homepage?
The player ratings tables are really clearly laid out, what are you using for the column ordering?

February 19, 2013 at 5:26 am in reply to: Genesis Featured Post Widget – How to Exclude 1 Category? #21254cehwithamMemberUsing the Genesis Featured Widget amplified plugin would add the Exclude Category option to this widget.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-featured-widget-amplified/
Then you can just set it to exclude and put in the ID of the category you don't want to show.

cehwithamMemberI think I've replied to a simple question about your site in a different thread. Again if you could provide a link to your site I'd be happy to take a look.

cehwithamMemberDo you have a link to your site please so I can have a look at what's going on?
Including Video in Sliders isn't always the easiest thing to do and usually requires a slider that can support the inclusion of video due to complications with the slider annimating when the video is playing.

cehwithamMemberAre you using the featured posts widget to output these? If so change the dates so they're in the right order and then set the widget to order by date ascending.

cehwithamMemberHave all of the posts definitely got featured images set on them?
If they have, can you try removing one then readding the featured image to see if this resolves the issue.
We need to work out whether the issue has been caused by the regenerate thumbs process or whether it is an issue with the code that is outputting the thumbnails.
I presume both categories are using the same template to output them?

cehwithamMemberDo you have an example of what your trying to achieve? If you send me a link I'll take a look.
Could you not just add a h2 in the top of the post content and style it accordingly?

cehwithamMemberHi,
You need to filter the post info output first to add some additional markup to the comment count. Put the following into functions.php in your child themes folder wp-content/themes/my-child-theme/
add_filter('genesis_post_info', 'fs_post_info_filter');
function fs_post_info_filter($fs_post_info) {
$fs_post_info = '[post_date format="F j, Y"] by [post_author_posts_link] [post_edit] [post_comments] ';
return $fs_post_info;
}Then you can add styles to make your post info section full width and add a float right to your postcomments span to push it over to the right.
If you provide a link to your site I can help you with the CSS too.

cehwithamMemberHi David,
The Genesis hooks would allow you to output your function in the right place but they themselves wouldn't output a post. You'd need to write a function to display the required post and then use add_action to add your function to the right hook.
It may be simpler for you to use something like the Display Posts Shortcode plugin. You can then just add the required shortcode to your page through the Editor.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/
Let me know if that helps.

cehwithamMemberCan you provide some more information please? Is this relating to a specific child theme? AgentPress maybe?

cehwithamMemberIf you go to Dashboard > Updates and scroll to the bottom you should see an auto update for Genesis under themes if one is available. It'll be below and Plugin updates that are available.
You should just be able to click update and the auto update system will take care of everything else.
If this isn't available something may have gone wrong and you may need to manually update Genesis through FTP as you described. Have you previously been able to use auto update for plugins and themes?

cehwithamMemberWhen I look at a sub domain and compare it to the main site, it looks exactly the same, even at differing browser widths.
Is there a particular browser, device or screen resolution you're struggling with?
If you could post more details or some screenshots I'd be happy to look into this for you.

cehwithamMemberYou're 90% there, you've got all the code you need. All you need to do is combine the two pieces of code, put the homepage code first in the function and do if is_front_page then an else condition for the pages.
Then when the filter runs, if it's on the homepage it will filter it for the homepage and otherwise set it up for internal pages.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags
Alternatively, you could create a template file for the front page, put the front page filter code in there and then create a page.php template file and put the filtering code for the pages in there. This would save you having to write the IF statements.

cehwithamMemberYou would be better rewriting this to use the WP_query object rather than using query_posts. This will avoid having to reset the loop.
The two articles below will provide more information and pointers of how to do this.

I hope that's useful. Let me know if you need more assistance with this.

cehwithamMemberThe CSS Last Child selector may help you here:
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/sel_last-child.asp
Also you shouldn't make changes to Genesis Core as as you say, it gets removed in the update. It's better to use hooks and filters to amend the output.
You can also add your own wrappers using hooks. For example create 2 functions to output the opening of the wrapper and the closing of the wrapper then hook on to the before content hook and one onto the after content hook.
The hook reference might be useful to you: http://my.studiopress.com/docs/hook-reference/

cehwithamMemberIf it's working on the main blog and in featured lists, where is it not working? Category pages maybe?
Which child theme are you using?
Can you provide a link to your site?

February 19, 2013 at 4:11 am in reply to: Banner sizes that are different from the IAB standards #21236cehwithamMemberHi Tanzen,
It depends really how you're going to source your advertisers. If you're looking to use Google Ads or a system where by adverts are automatically placed on your site, keeping to standard sizes makes sense. If you're attracting local businesses who wouldn't normally advertise online and therefore don't have pre made adverts then a custom size wouldn't be so much of an issue.
You need to make sure the barrier to entry of advertising on your site is as low as possible. If people have got to have custom graphics made up to advertise on your site oppose to other peoples, it may put them off.
Also you need to think about what happens to the adverts when the site is responsive and displayed on smaller screen sizes.
I hope this helps.

cehwithamMemberWhen I look at the site I can see border at the top and bottom but also what looks like a background image (white patterns down the sides).
Is this the desired effect or is there something you still need help with? If you can clarify I'll take a look.
