Yup! I actually added the php embed code directly to the Genesis framework header.php file and it worked.
You shouldn't edit the genesis code directly. Your mods will be overwritten when studiopress releases genesis updates.
January 16, 2013 at 8:15 pm in reply to: URGENT: willing to pay someone for CSS help – Production Theme #12519buddy_boy8403ParticipantIn your child theme's style.css file, go to line 55 and make it look like this, then test it again on a mobile device and see if the header aligns correct after that.
#header {
background: url("http://www.bendalls.com.au/cms/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/bendalls-logo-transp2.png") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
margin: 0 auto;
}buddy_boy8403ParticipantOne other thing if you do the css styling I gave in the post above, you may also want to edit line 293 in your style.css to this so that your top menu fits on one line:
#header ul.menu li a {
color: #FFFFFF;
display: block;
font-family: "Times New Roman",Times,serif;
font-size: 20px;
margin: 0 8px 0 -12px;
padding: 7px 2px 5px;
position: relative;
text-decoration: none;
}buddy_boy8403ParticipantI'm seeing the image slider. Did you get your problem fixed?
buddy_boy8403ParticipantI'm a little confused about what you actually want. If you just want the items in green to show horizontally, then on line 119 in your child theme's style.css file, do this:
li, ol, ul {
display: inline;
list-style-type: none;
margin: 0 0 0 10px;
padding: 0 10px 0 0;
}If you want the buttons like what is in the primary sidebar on your pages, then in your child theme's functions.php file, locate the code for the Featured Bottom Left sidebar and add in the code I pasted earlier within it.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantOne other thing - if you are not absoultely set on the Nivo slider, you could always use the Genesis Slider, which is developed by studiopress and supported here in the forums. It's widgetized so you can just configure the slider in the settings page and then go to your widgets page and drag the entire slider in the sidebar you already created for Nivo. Then you can avoid having to add in embed code in the php widget. This is a cleaner (and safer) route to go.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantAre you planning to hide them permanently? I know you said you only want them hidden if there is information in them, but I don't think you can do that. To hide them permanently, just go into your child theme's functions.php file and comment out the footer sidebar code.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantWell in that case, just remove the code I told you to add and go into wp-admin > appearance > widgets and move the custom menu widget to the Featured Bottom Left sidebar.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantJust publish the page and go to wp-admin > appearance > menus and add the page to the menu. You can drag and drop to position the menus how you want them.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantAre you sure you used a php widget and not the text widget?
buddy_boy8403ParticipantI'm a radiographer by trade and would be interested in seeing the site. I think you forgot to post a link.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantYou can try the below in your child theme's functions.php file. This will unregister the primary navigation and move it within the primary sidebar inside of a widget area. From there, you can style it in you child theme's style.css file to make it look like you need to.
You may also need to change the default genesis layout to sidebar/content or content/sidebar in order for the new menu location to show up. You should be able to do this by logging into wp-admin and clicking on the genesis tab on the left.
/** Reposition the primary navigation menu */
remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
add_action( 'genesis_sidebar', 'genesis_do_nav' );buddy_boy8403ParticipantIf I were you, I would add a widget area with a conditional to only show on the home page and try using the genesis_after_header. Then drag the slider to the widget area, or use a php widget and add in the embed code there if necessary.
To add the widget area, copy the below into your child theme's functions.php file:
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'nivio-slider-home ',
'name' => 'Nivio Slider',
'description' => 'This is a sidebar for the Nivio Slider that goes on the home page after the header.',
) );
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'child_genesis_after_header_nivio_sidebar' );
/** Loads a new sidebar after the header*/
function child_genesis_after_header_nivio_sidebar() {
if (is_home() ) {
echo '';
dynamic_sidebar( 'nivio-slider-sidebar' );
echo '';
}
}And then style the sidebar however you want it in your child theme's style.css file. Below is an example:
/* Nivio Slider Sidebar
------------------------------------------------------------ */
.nivio-slider-sidebar{
clear: both;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 728px;
}buddy_boy8403ParticipantI can see dropdowns when hovering over the menu. The color isn't too good. You could try modifying the color on line 389 of your child theme's style.css file. If this isn't what you're talking about, let me know. And maybe add in some more menu items, just as a temporary test so we can see more about what you are talking about.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantFollow the tutorial at this link to help you get the information on the page that you need:

If after following these steps and adding in the additional hooks you still have questions, report back and we can help more.
January 14, 2013 at 10:22 pm in reply to: WordPress SEO by Yoast v1.3.4.4 does not work with Genesis Framework v1.9 #12002buddy_boy8403ParticipantIt works fine for me with Genesis 1.9.1, WP 3.5 and all studiopress child themes that I own (which is about 10). Yoast is a great developer and has worked close with StudioPress for his SEO plugin. I doubt it is a plugin conflict.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantAnd once you make those changes, for the home page, try changing line 657 to:
#content-sidebar-wrap {
float: left;
margin-top: -110px;
width: 100%;
}Let me know when those 3 changes are made. Test the site over to make sure everything looks right on your pages/posts and report back.
buddy_boy8403ParticipantYou will probably also need to make the change in bold below on 515:
#inner {
clear: both;
margin: 0 auto;
overflow: visible;
padding: 10px 0;
}buddy_boy8403ParticipantOn line 675 of your child theme's style.css file, try changing it to this:
.full-width-content #content {
margin-top: -110px;
width: 100%;buddy_boy8403ParticipantCan you post the code of your current custom page?
