Ok, cool, thanks, also found this tutorial on the journey: http://www.brandonkraft.com/contrib/plugins/genesis-enews-extended/install/
Ben SiegfriedMemberYes, I knew that but I'm totally confused. It appears that you use Mailchimp if you're creating Newsletters in Mailchimp.
I just want people to put in their email address, hit submit, and then be subscribed to receive new blog posts when they are posted.
I don't want to use jetpack for this.
Ben SiegfriedMemberOk thanks. My issue turned out to be that I was using a background color of the same refresh color.
November 25, 2013 at 5:06 pm in reply to: Agency-Pro homepage featured Blog Posts' hover state #75592Ben SiegfriedMemberChanging line-height, font-size, length of post title, as well as post meta, can all affect the size of the hover block. I now suggest sticking with the same featured posts for this area for longer periods of time unless you want to go tweaking these factors that affect the hover block.

Other than that, I'll just have to create featured posts that work there, and place them there by post types order. Yah, maybe it is Cora. I'll try changing the font family to see what that does too. Thanks again!
Ben SiegfriedMemberI think the :before selector could work for this but haven't tried it yet. Would love to see GFWA have the ability to add icons this way.
November 20, 2013 at 11:33 am in reply to: Agency-Pro homepage featured Blog Posts' hover state #74432Ben SiegfriedMemberGood clue sdbroker however I have now changed the one post of RECENT ARTICLES on the homepage that is farthest right to now accept comment and so the number of lines in the title and meta are the same and it still chops off the hover some. Moreover, the featured post at issue on the far right has more text, FAR more than 180 characters. So shouldn't this one NOT have any problem? I've exhausted what I think are all the little variations like this, having to do with title, meta, and text character count, as well as having photos or no photos, and I can't find any rhyme or reason as to why it chops off the hover state, and it isn't the far right one, for example, if I move that one to the far left or middle it still does the same thing. Some posts do not get the same treatment and there must be a reason as to why.
November 19, 2013 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Agency-Pro homepage featured Blog Posts' hover state #74304Ben SiegfriedMemberI think we've tried that little detail but will take another look. I wish it wasn't this touchy to set up. Standby…
Ben SiegfriedMemberTo make what open in a new window? Can you describe what you want in more detail.
Ben SiegfriedMemberOh got it, it's all in the CSS. If you want 4 per row do this with the corresponding CSS in Minimum-Pro or whatever theme you install the Portfolio into. Remove the :nth-of-type selectors and the extra rule:
.post-type-archive-portfolio .entry { float: left; margin-bottom: 60px; margin-bottom: 6rem; width: 25%; } .post-type-archive-portfolio .entry { float: left; padding: 0px 10; padding: 0rem 1rem; /* or whatever padding you desire */ }
Ben SiegfriedMemberI don't think a slider be installed in the WordPress Background image Tom. You're installing that image from Appearance > Background.
If the background could become clickable this tutorial could help you get on your way: http://ran.ge/2012/04/03/css-trick-turning-a-background-image-into-a-clickable-link-take-2/
Ben SiegfriedMemberI like to use custom: /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%/
My understanding is that it is better for SEO, I'm not an expert at SEO though.
November 16, 2013 at 12:43 pm in reply to: Disable featured image link to post using Featured Posts Widget (not GFWA) #73438Ben SiegfriedMemberI just tried this with a new dev test site with executive-pro and I couldn't get the new custom widget to show up. I did go to the default featured posts widget files and found the equivalent of line 94 that you state, and tried to alter that but if you touch anything on that line it just breaks the featured image in various ways. Nick the Geek emailed me back with a response over customizing this widget for what I want to do and he said it can be done but takes a lot of code. His GFWA could be updated by December 2013, or so he said. I'd rather wait at this point than fool around with it because by the time his GFWA comes back for HTML5 Themes, the answer will be a simple check box.
Ben SiegfriedMemberWow, thanks Pat! That sure did it. I was boggled over that one.
Ben SiegfriedMemberStoked to hear from Nick this afternoon, he's working on an update to the amplified widget.
If anyone wants to contribute any patches go here: https://github.com/NicktheGeek/genesis-featured-widget-amplified
Ben SiegfriedMemberI think he may not be involved with Studiopress, that's my guess. May I suggest you also contact Studiopress and ask them to improve the featured post widget they offer or take over Nick's since he isn't apparently supporting it. I asked Studiopress something of the sort.
Ben SiegfriedMemberWell in addition to the buggy menus within it, it breaks Agency-Pro's homepage, doesn't work with the setup of that page.
Bummer.
I wish Studiopress would create their own version of Nick's plugin, the extended functionality of Nick's plugin is wonderful.
Are you listening Studiopress?
Ben SiegfriedMemberI'm having the same problems on a PC. I haven't tried repeating the problems on a Mac however.
I too wish Nick would pick it up again. I have tried two separate times to email him directly about the issues with two different email addresses that are legit in appearance, and apparently his website is blocking them now. I haven't received a response from him. Odd.
If someone knows him, please let him know that he is letting down a lot of people right now. This is a great widget and it needs to be picked up again and have these issues resolved.
Ben SiegfriedMemberMarcy, your options didn't work for me and I'm using Agency-Pro. I can get
display:none;
to work but would like to know why the functions.php method isn't working. I'm inputting it in as you have shared using a correct page ID and even the title of the page. Are you sure your code is correct?Ben SiegfriedMemberChanged the hook to
genesis_entry_content
now that works the same. Thanks again so much for helping me with this! -
