ParticipantThank you.
I'm wondering how to get the same hovering effect as the boxes in http://my.studiopress.com/. I suppose it's through some css but I'm not exactly a coder...
Thanks again for your kind help.

ParticipantThank you again for your time.
For some reason, now the title is back above the thumbnail, both in the blog pages and the category pages.

ParticipantDear Sridhar,
Thank you so much.
This works wonders for posts on blog pages and solves indeed the problem of portfolio.
However, this does not work with the same posts on category pages: they still show up with the title above the thumbnail.
I suppose some magic with this issue is possible as well.
Thank you again for your steady help.

ParticipantThank you. I have added a taxonomy to the portfolio following this tutorial: http://dreamwhisperdesigns.com/genesis-tutorials/add-taxonomy-minimum-theme-portfolio/.
You suggest to create custom tax archive pages and use custom body classes. How to use custom body classes in the newly created portfolio-type archive pages (which technically are neither pages nor posts if I'm not mistaken)?
Thank you for any further suggestion.
bd
ParticipantThank you Brad.
Creating custom taxonomies will result in all the categories' being in the default two columns format or can various categories be tweaked in css (say the default one, on the default portfolio page, in two colums and another, on another page, in three columns) ?

ParticipantThank you Brad.
Could you recommend some tutorial for creating a template of widgets?
As to whether I mean a template or archive, I'm not exactly sure what is the best solution. What I wish is a portfolio-like page (gallery), of which the images open posts; these gallery images must be the featured images of the posts (possibly with a hovering effect), but without text form the post.
Minimum Pro only has one portfolio page, so I cannot use it elsewhere on the site. Moreover, it only has two columns, while I need three or four for this particular page.

ParticipantYou are a magician, Sridhar !
Thank you so much.
I would like to ask if there is a way to only keep the tooltip (and suppress/hide what shows up at the bottom of the photo).
Thank you again for your generosity.

ParticipantThank you for your kind reply.
My site is not yet online. However, the portfolio page is identical to the Minimum Pro demo portfolio page.
What I need is simpler than what appears on the Agency Pro front page or the tutorials mentioned.
I just need a couple of words to show up as a tooltip when mouse hovering over the images of the portfolio page.
The problem is, the images on the portfolio page are added in the portfolio post as featured images, with no html control. (If I could control the html code of the image, I could add the tooltip text as title="").
But not being a coder, I have difficulties in figuring out how to proceed.
Thanks again for your reply.

ParticipantThe site is unfortunately not yet public...

ParticipantThanks, everyone. To the above solutions I would add this one: http://sridharkatakam.com/how-to-replace-background-image-in-minimum-pro-with-responsive-slider/.
I for one have used Slider Revolution, which allows to choose between several possible layouts (fixed, custom, auto responsive, full screen) and works well. Of course, many other slider plugins are available to try.

ParticipantThanks to everyone who has participated in this thread.
I have removed the background image code from on front-page.php as suggested by mintegrated and added the code of Ted to functions.php. However, the widget (and thus the slider) is placed below the site tagline.
How to move it above the tagline, in place of the former background image ?
