October 9, 2016 at 5:52 pm in reply to: Atmosphere: three column widget in the footer (responsive too) and height #194432askdesignParticipant
It looks like you figured out how to get the 3 columns.
To make the footer widgets responsive, you need to modify your media queries. Around the 780px width, that area begins to look crowded. You might have a media query for 780px already in the CSS. If so, add to it the following code to it. If not, create a new media query, like so:
/* iPhones (portrait and landscape) --------------------------------------------- */ @media only screen and (max-width: 768px) { /* --- CSS part begins --- */ .footer-widgets .widget { float: none; margin: 0 auto /* --- to center the blocks --- */ width: 100%; } /* --- CSS part ends --- */ } /* --- media query ends --- */
To decrease the footer height, modify the CSS:
.footer-widgets { padding: 20px 20px; }

Designer | Artist | TeacherOctober 9, 2016 at 5:24 pm in reply to: How do I add my logo to the responsive menu bar in Cafe Pro #194429askdesignParticipantYou could move the primary nav into the header, then make the header fixed. Brian Gardner has written an article that may help you:
http://briangardner.com/reposition-primary-navigation/"Below is the code to reposition the primary navigation menu to the site header" (by editing the functions.php file):
<?php //* Do NOT include the opening php tag //* Reposition the primary navigation menu remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' ); add_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_do_nav', 12 );
Then add this to your CSS:
.site-header { position: fixed; }

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantI'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking to do, but Bill Erickson built a plug-in for subpages as secondary menus:
http://www.billerickson.net/genesis-subpages-as-secondary-menu/Also, you could look at the Orange Connection site's code via Chrome developer tools or Firefox Firebug. Their submenu is revealed by using a button that toggles. Interesting method.

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantHi Stacey,
Making progress I see!I'm not sure which button you're targeting. If it's the green one at the top "Request an Appointment", the font size is normally 14px. To change the font size:
.vc_btn3-container.vc_btn3-center .vc_btn3-block.vc_btn3-size-md { font-size: 12px; }
The margin for the site-inner selector on this particular page would become:
.page-id-115 .site-inner { margin-top: 100px; }
To find the page ID, use a developer tool like Firebug and look at the HTML section to find the first call of the body class:
<body class="home page page-id-115 page-template-default custom-header header-image header-full-width full-width-content wpb-js-composer js-comp-ver-4.9 vc_responsive" itemtype="http://schema.org/WebPage" itemscope="" data-pinterest-extension-installed="ff1.37.9">
cheers!

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantCool, let me know how things go.
If you prefer Chrome, there are the Developer Tools, which are great. Even Safari has developer tools now, although I haven't used them (don't use Safari much anymore)...

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantHi Stacey,
In the CSS file, the selectors would be found on or near the following lines:
line 1501 - .entry-header::after
line 773 - .entry-titleYou won't see the page ID part, because I've added that to limit the change to only that page.
When editing the child theme CSS, I usually leave the original code intact and add my modifications toward the bottom (yet above the media queries). I put a comment right before my section of modifications, something like:
/* --- ASK Design customizations -- */
Have you started using Firebug? 🙂
my best,
Anne

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantHome Page question
You establish which page is the home page by going to the Reading Settings and selecting "Static Page" for Front page displays and then selecting the About page in the drop-down menu for Front Page.Full Width
Using a tool like Firebug (for Firefox) or Chrome developer tools, you'll be able to identify the selectors that control the styling. You must change the left and right padding to 0 for this particular CSS selector so that it becomes full-width:.full-width-content .content { padding: 0 200px 50px; width: 100%; }
becomes:
.full-width-content .content { padding: 0 0 50px; width: 100%; }
Title and Bar
To limit the change to only this page....page-id-115 .entry-header::after { border-bottom: 1px solid #000; }
becomes:
.page-id-115 .entry-header::after { border-bottom: 0px solid #000; }
To limit the change to only this page...
.page-id-115 .entry-title { font-size: 36px;}
becomes:
.page-id-115 .entry-title { font-size: 36px; display: none}
Theme Features
It looks like this theme has some nice widgets for its built-in Front page. You might try using these features instead of a static Home page. The Readings Settings might need to change to "Front page displays latests posts", so check the theme set-up documentation.

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantThe article posted by Susan lists several good ones. I have been using Backup Buddy and love it. For free plug-ins, I've used Duplicator and wp-migrate-db, and think they're great too.

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantI get a message alert saying "Upgrade to the new Pin It button for Firefox." So, upgrading should do the trick for you.
Anne S. Katzeff
Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantYes, change the background color, too (to white):
.lifestyle-pro-blue .button, .lifestyle-pro-blue .entry-content .button, .lifestyle-pro-blue .site-footer, .lifestyle-pro-blue .site-header, .lifestyle-pro-blue button, .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="button"], .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="reset"], .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="submit"], .lifestyle-pro-blue.lifestyle-pro-home .content .widget-title { background-color: #fff; }
You also might need to resize the header image to fit the wider space.
Anne S. Katzeff
Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantIn Reading Settings, what have you selected for your Front Page display?
If it's "Home", then that front page content is actually built with widgets.You might check the settings on the Home page to see if it actually is using the default full-width. Check Page Attributes (in the right sidebar) and also scroll down toward the bottom of the page to Layout Settings to see which layout is selected.
Alternatively...
If you want that page to behave like a "regular" page, rename the home.php file to home-old.php. You should then be able to put a full-width slider at the top of the page. Not sure if the Genesis responsive slider is widget-based, but you can always use another slider plug-in. I like Meta-slider.

Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipant3 things to check:
(1) Clear your cache on your computer and at your web host (if they provide some sort of super cacher tool)
(2) If your web host account uses Cloudflare, log into your web hosting account and go into its "development" mode.
(3) In your browser, "Clear Recent History"Hope this works for you!
Anne S. Katzeff
Designer | Artist | TeacheraskdesignParticipantThere's a 36px padding around the entire container. If you want, you can adjust that:
.site-container { background-color: #fff; box-shadow: 0 0 5px #ddd; margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; overflow: hidden; padding: 36px; }
You might also want to change the header image background color to white:
.lifestyle-pro-blue .button, .lifestyle-pro-blue .entry-content .button, .lifestyle-pro-blue .site-footer, .lifestyle-pro-blue .site-header, .lifestyle-pro-blue button, .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="button"], .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="reset"], .lifestyle-pro-blue input[type="submit"], .lifestyle-pro-blue.lifestyle-pro-home .content .widget-title { background-color: #fff; }
Hope this helps!

Designer | Artist | TeacherJanuary 20, 2015 at 1:01 pm in reply to: Any plugin to create third menu with same CSS styling? #138114askdesignParticipantHere's 1 idea: Create a tertiary (third) menu.
For instrux. on how to create a tertiary menu, see this tut:
http://sridharkatakam.com/adding-custom-menu-footer-genesis/
or this tut:
http://wpbeaches.com/add-footer-menu-genesis-child-theme/You can position the menu wherever you want by changing the location hook.
add_action('genesis_before_footer', 'themprefix_footer_menu');
changed to
add_action('genesis_before_content', 'themprefix_footer_menu');
will reposition the tertiary menu above the content area.Here's a great page to bookmark for Genesis hooks:

Designer | Artist | TeacherJanuary 20, 2015 at 12:19 pm in reply to: I need some orientation about a new WordPress project #138100askdesignParticipantIt looks like the site "thisiswhyimbroke.com" uses a filtering based on category. Not sure if they're using a plug-in to achieve this.
But, another idea is to use the "featured post" widget available on a lot of themes for the home page. Check to see if you have that option with Metro Pro.

Designer | Artist | TeacherJanuary 20, 2015 at 12:03 pm in reply to: I need some orientation about a new WordPress project #138096askdesignParticipantTo start out, I'd use category. You can assign categories to a post (see right sidebar "Categories" area).
When creating a navigation menu (see left sidebar "Appearance" > "Menus"), you can select categories to add to the menu. Once you click "Add to Menu", look for the new item(s) at the bottom of the menu. Select 1 item at a time with your cursor to drag to whatever position in the menu you want.
As an alternative, there might be plug-ins for you to consider. Something that would sort and filter your posts.
