Not sure how to style the first post the way you want it but if you are wanting just posts on the page and not the grid I would remove the home.php file and then you just have posts. Is that what you are wanting?

angieatcMemberThanks Corinne!
It worked! Responsive design is going to be the DEATH-OF-ME and so is the !important tag.

angieatcMemberThanks Corinne! That worked perfectly. I do have one more question and not sure if you can help me but on smaller devices the 3 column areas (below the slider) does not shift properly (it always has 2 columns then the 3rd column shifts down). I copied the column codes over from the Modern Portfolio theme but I still can't figure it out. What am I missing?

angieatcMemberOk, I am back, I thought I had this down but when I went to switch back over to the Adorable theme the customization for the slider was gone. I am having an issue with the next slider post title going into the current slider. Here is the site: http://69.195.124.58/~homegrr7/ would there be anyway you could see what is going on? I am going to slow it down just in case you can look at it.
Thanks

angieatcMemberangieatcMemberYep, they fixed it and I also fixed the problem. I had an archive.php file that I had to delete. Once I did it resolved itself.
Thanks for checking.

angieatcMemberangieatcMemberOK thanks! I just have archives.php, functions and CSS. I think i will be redesigning my site. <banging head on desk>

angieatcMemberDavid,
I deactivated all plugins and it still came up as a white screen. How would I figure out if there is an errant category template? I really do not have the time to redesign my site right now.
Any help would be appreciated.

angieatcMemberRyan,
They are switching back to the Adorable theme so I think I am good because the customization from before is still there. Thanks again for all of your help!
My design site, Hill Springs Designs
angieatcMemberOK so far so good! I will look at it again tonight. The sizes are all correct (width wise) but I have no idea where the grey border is coming from.
Thanks!

angieatcMemberThanks Brad for all of your help! I had to put the code back into the home.php file because there was no hook that placed it correctly. I tried creating a widget area in the function for the slider but there was no hook I could use that placed it in the spot where I needed it.
So I have everything correct, except I cannot put any spaces between the 2nd and 3rd column. Is there a way to distinguish the 3rd column to float right? I am also not sure why the border is cut off of of the image.

angieatcMemberI am assuming I am going to remove the area from the home.php file?
I have added padding to the CSS here and nothing changes.
.home-top .featuredpost .post {
float: left;
padding: 0 5px;
width: 33%;
}*edit*
I know the reason why we put it in the home.php file it was because none of the hooks worked. Nothing we put would hook in the correct spot so we had to write the function the way it was on the home.php file.

angieatcMemberHey Brad!
Carri Dils helped me with it but what I added to the CSS messed up some other stuff.
This is what she told me to put in my CSS which worked great for the top section!
.home-top {
clear: both;
}.home-top .featuredpost .post {
float: left;
width: 33%;
}However, the bottom section is a mess now. One of the posts is missing and there is that big gap. The other thing is I need the same thing at the bottom section as I do in the top section.
And yes to your question about the custom widget, but I need them be in 1 widget but show 3 posts next to each other (left to right).
Does this make sense? Maybe without putting the code tags in here you can see my home.php file.

My design site, Hill Springs Designs
angieatcMemberOk, I need some help with this again please! I had to change themes to Serenity for the client and I have changed the widths in the Genesis Slider settings and in the CSS and the images are weird and my post title in the slider is jacked up as well.
html > body .slide-excerpt-border {
background: none;
border: 0 solid #ddd !important;
display: inline;
float: left;
margin: 10px;
padding: 14px;
position: relative;
z-index: 8;
width: 700px; /* set a static width */
text-align: center;
}
Post Title.slide-excerpt-border h2 a,
.slide-excerpt-border h2 a:visited {
color: #fff !important;
font-family: 'Copse', serif !important;
font-size: 30px;
line-height: 1;
margin: 0;
text-align: center !important;
}Just curious if you could take a look at it as you were the only one to figure out the other issue I was having.
Thanks

angieatcMemberangieatcMemberNow you have lost me. Would I need to because I am using the responsive slider?
My design site, Hill Springs Designs
angieatcMemberThank you! I had forgotten I removed the width from it when I copied the code from another site I had designed.
Angie
My design site, Hill Springs Designs
angieatcMemberAnd...once I remove the padding for the footer and the background shows up. This really does not make sense to me.
And the CSS you gave me does not fix the problem either because it only does the content area. I need the whole area (posting/sidebar). Like I said previously, it should be the #inner but it does not work.
And I did add the padding back into the footer and it did the same thing! I am beyond frustrated at the moment with this theme.
I appreciate your help!
