MemberThank you, that explains everything.
I have a horizontal opt-in form on the homepage, so, with my limited coding ability, I probably will have to use the plugin for either the horizontal form or the sidebar form. Or, is there simple a way to program two different sizes and shapes for the use of the Genesis eNews Extended plugin?allieb
MemberVery interesting!
My hosting company tells me I have to have a separate dedicated IP for each domain with an SSL certificate.
The second website is now an add-on to the first one.
Are you saying that I could purchase an SSL certificate from namecheap.com and just do it?What is "short url traffic"? (I know what short url is - from bitly.com, correct?)
thanks!

What else might work?Thanks.

MemberI put this in the sidebar widget:
and this in the page ('sign up now):
http://sign up now
and when I click on 'sign up now' I get a blank page. I notice that when I go back to the widget, the anchor1 code is gone.
How can I correct this?allieb
MemberThanks for the suggestion of Code Canyon.
I have started working with Timetrade. It is doing what we want so far, which is allowing clients to schedule on the web for a limited number of time slots. It does cost, though, and we are still in the free trial.allieb
MemberI found a review that shows 2 pictures and exactly how (it is so nice and simple) the author made the changes.
http://wpcanada.ca/plugin-reviews/plugin-review-genesis-widgetized-archive/By following these 2 examples, I have a sense of what the plugin does. I was making just one mis-step in the sequence I was following which created my confusion.

MemberWordpress with the Studiopress Eleven40 theme, hosted with BlueHost, low-cost shared hosting.
Does that answer your question about hosting environment? Am not aware of any caching settings with this theme. Are there?allieb
MemberI am also looking for a way to address Pingdom speed test results:
"The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime. Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources"
What is the best way to do this?

MemberThank you - your replies are encouraging. We have decided to go ahead and change child themes, with the goal of simplifying custom areas of the website. Then I will be more capable of making changes. A family member has stepped up to help with this part, and I may need more 'small job' help later on, we'll see. Thanks again!
