    I'm trying to add a button on top of all of a slideshow that stays in a fixed position but still moves position with responsive layout using the executive theme.

    I think I can do z-index: 9999;
    but I don't know if I should be using relative or fixed positioning.
    It will remain within the same div as the slideshow but will remain above it so it is always clickable
    and will remain in the top left corner with some padding.

    I setup an example of what I'm looking for here: http://oi40.tinypic.com/mskhgl.jpg
    Please let me know if this makes sense.

    if you simply want to use z-index, you can go for position: relative.
