ParticipantHmm. A moderator must have deleted the link. Here it is again: https://wptoolkit.com/studiopress/

ModeratorThere are plenty of people that resell Studio Press themes. Studio Press licensing does not prevent it. If someone buys from a third party, they will not have access to Studio Press support.

ParticipantYes, I understand that and I could see if there was a slight difference in price. But it's a $400 difference. That smacks of either an unauthorized reseller scam or developer price gouging. Now, anytime StudioPress releases something new, like RainMaker, I'll probably look for a third party reseller that can sell me the same exact product at 1/5 of what StudioPress charges. Sorry if I sound bitter, but I feel like I've been ripped off. 🙁

ModeratorThat's the nature of the GPL under which the Genesis Framework is released.
Even though you can save money buying from a service such as this, are you comfortable buying from an unknown seller? How do you know they haven't embedded viruses into their files, for example?

ParticipantYes, but we're not talking about just the framework. If WP Toolkit is a legitimate StudioPress reseller, they are offering the same package StudioPress is selling for $400 less, which negatively affects StudioPress's other resellers, as well as their customer base.
If WP Toolkit isn't an authorized StudioPress reseller, they are likely pirating StudioPress's property. If that's the case, StudioPress should protect their brand, their products, and their customers by having their lawyers issues a cease and desist letter immediately.
In the end, all this does, regardless of which scenario is accurate, is devalue the StudioPress brand.

ModeratorStudioPress doesn't have an authorized reseller program. They have an affiliate program. Affiliates make commissions when someone purchases directly from the Studio Press site..

ParticipantThanks for the info Victor. I don't know what the WP Tools arrangement is, but it doesn't sound like an affiliate offer. Anyway, I'm wasting too much of my time (and yours) worrying about it. 🙂 Thanks for letting me vent.
